Matt Moulson is the New York Islanders reining "Iron Man," having played every game since he first made the roster. He has had to play on a line with other team mates while John Tavares was kept out of the line up for minor injuries from time to time.
So while John is 'under the weather' and the cold has 'traveled to his kidneys' yesterday as was reported by Newsday's Art Staple, I say again -...

New York Islanders forward John Tavares has been playing very well as of late, and this shootout move he pulled off against the Ottawa Senators to clinch the win shows off his skill. The move was popularized by Colorado Avalanche great Peter Forsberg and with good reason. When executed properly it is almost impossible to stop, as Senators goalie Robin Lehner learned first hand.
He is almost as soft spoken and difficult to interview as he was when he first arrived on the Islanders and the only word in English he knew well was "Stick."
Radek has a far better command of the English language now, but he's still a man of few words. He just wants to contribute to the team, and do it without fanfare.
While he was not only interviewed on the...
Radek Martinek scored the tiebreaking goal eight minutes into the third period and the New York Islanders handed Montreal its first regulation loss in nearly a month with a 6-3 victory Tuesday night.
Martinek's shot from the left point on a pass from Kyle Okposo eluded goaltender Carey Price at 7:56. It was the first goal of the season for Martinek, who hadn't scored since...

Sunday was an interesting day as defense was not exactly the norm in the games involving New York Islander or New York Ranger prospects. Plenty of offense with a winning streak finally coming to an end; oops sorry becoming a "unbeaten in regulation" streak.
Ryan Strome (NYI 2011 1st) and Jesse Graham (NYI 2012 6th) had a mostly fun-filled Sunday...
Mid-way through the New York Islanders-Montreal Canadiens game, Islanders forward Casey Cizikas delivered this booming hit to Canadiens rookie Alex Galchenyuk. Galchenyuk was far enough away from the boards that he went head over heels into the Islanders’ bench. No one was hurt, but this was definitely a “Welcome to the NHL” moment for Galchenyuk. The Islanders went on...
New York Islanders forward Casey Cizikas played the role of extremely hospitable host by escorting Canadiens rookie Alex Galchenyuk to the bench Tuesday night during the Isles’ 6-3 win.
Cizikas was credited for an assist for this nice “how do ya do?” that is brought to you en Francais! Hourra!
John Tavares and Frans Nielsen scored in the shootout, lifting the New York Islanders to a 3-2 victory over the slumping Ottawa Senators on Sunday.
Evgeni Nabokov made 29 saves as the Islanders earned their third win in 12 home games this season. He also stopped Jakob Silfverberg and Daniel Alfredsson in the shootout.
The Senators (12-7-4) have lost three in a row. They also have...
Evgeni Nabokov will be in net today when the Isles face the Ottawa Senators. But if you thought anyone else would have been, you're foolish.
The troubling thought is that John Tavares may not be playing this afternoon as he has been feeling ill since Friday. My personal opinion is -- if he's sick, don't let the kid play. He has a better chance of getting hurt if...

The Ottawa Senators forced yet another game past sixty minutes of regulation courtesy of a late third-period equalizer from Patrick Wiercioch, but had no answer for a trio of skilled New York Islanders forwards in the shootout, dropping the game 3-2 in extra-time.
Both Frans Nielsen and John Tavares beat Robin Leher in the skills competition...
