Line changes haven't crossed Capuano's mind
The Islanders are in the midst of a three game slump and many fans would expect some change to the Islanders lineup for tomorrow’s rematch against the Pittsburgh Penguins. But according to Islanders head coach Jack Capuano it hasn’t crossed his mind.
“As a coach you think about that,” Capuano said following Tuesdays 3-0 loss to the Penguins. “But I mean we had 33 shots...
Jurcina close to return, Niederreiter to skate with team by next week
Uniondale, NY -- Milan Jurcina and Nino Niederreiter are making progress to return to the Islanders lineup.
“Jurcina , I think, is ready to go when called upon,” Islanders head coach Jack Capuano said following his teams 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. “Nino should skate with the team if not by the end of the week then by the first of the week.”

New York Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Nabokov was hurt in the first period but remained in the game through regulation and the overtime session.

Best is yet to come for Islanders' star Tavares
People have known for a while that John Tavares is a pretty fair hockey player. Hey, there is a reason he was the first prospect selected in the 2009 entry draft. And it is no surprise his game has improved every year that he has been in the league. Blend that much talent with such an outstanding work ethic, and a steady upgrade is nearly inevitable.
Capuano Needs To Shuffle Up The Lines
With the exception of the Isles first line, there has been very little offensive production during the Isles recent three game losing streak. Matt Moulson, PA Parenteau, and John Tavares have great chemistry, but beyond those three there has been minimal production and few scoring chances.

Isles can't be saved by DiPietro
After not starting a game since last season, the Islanders elected to throw Rick DiPietro into the fire last night. The goalie, who sat on the bench all night backing up starter Evgeni Nabokov, entered a game that was tied 2-2 going into a shootout. DiPietro allowed the lone goal...
Isles blanked by Pens
The Islanders have three goaltenders on their roster, but the team is still waiting for one of them to establish himself as the clear No. 1. The dilemma hasn’t been helped by the fact the two goalies who have started -- Evgeni Nabokov and Al Montoya -- have played...
Islanders-Penguins Preview
The New York Islanders seemingly caught Pittsburgh for a home-and-home set at the wrong time, as former Conn Smythe Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin returned to the Penguins' lineup in Tuesday's opener.
Then again, there is hardly ever a good time for the Islanders to face Pittsburgh as long as Marc-Andre Fleury is in net.
Coming off a shutout that was his ninth win in 11 starts...
