New York Rangers forward Derek Stepan may be back in the Blueshirts’ lineup for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night afterall. Stepan missed the Rangers’ Game 4 overtime win after breaking his jaw in Game 3. The New York forward was leveled by a big hit from Montreal Canadiens forward Brandon Prust, a hit that led the NHL to suspend Prust for two games. The hit also landed Stepan in the hospital after the veteran forward finished Game 3 with the broken jaw. He underwent surgery to repair the injury, but it was unknown when he’d return to action. That could be as early as Tuesday night, as Stepan participated in the team’s morning skate in Montreal ahead of Game 5. He did so with a large facemask protecting that broken jaw. See photos of Stepan in his new mask below. #NYR @DerekStepan21 on the ice for #NYRPlayoffs morning skate instagram.com/p/ogWOfwvdF5/. #AboveAndBeyond http://t.co/EBG4l2KhFy— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) May 27, 2014 I am Gotham's reckoning #Bane @DerekStepan21 http://t.co/3QBw7e5KOR— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) May 27, 2014 #NYR @DerekStepan21 on the ice for #NYRPlayoffs morning skate instagram.com/p/ogWOfwvdF5/. #AboveAndBeyond http://t.co/EBG4l2KhFy— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) May 27, 2014 Derek Stepan is on the ice for #NYR morning skate wearing special face mask. http://t.co/niJ97XF6eU— Laura Behnke (@LauraBehnke) May 27, 2014Filed under: Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, NHL, Stanley Cup Playoffs, Top Stories
