It’s a cause for a celebratory cocktail. Devan Dubnyk had 37 saves in his first NHL shutout, and the Oilers had four goals in a rare win over the Nashville Predators.
A RED LETTER DAY
- Devan Dubnyk notched a substantial effort with a shutout performance against a pretty good Western Conference opponent. Let’s have a look at one of his thirty-seven saves, shall we?
The Oilers yielded 16 shots in the first period, and fifteen in the third. How Nashville only managed to get off six shots in the second period remains a mystery.
Could you imagine if Dubnyk stood up to 45 shots, or maybe 50? It’s not that far-fetched an idea.
After an Andrew Cogliano goal in the first period, there were solid efforts sprayed around the rink. A goal from the recently returned Jordan Eberle. Jim Freaking Vandermeer had a tally. Dustin Penner had himself a solid at the six minute mark of the third.
Solid effort from the offence, a few good periods from the defence. Hell, the good guys didn’t even allow a power play goal. What else could you want?
