During the New Jersey Devils three game win streak this past week, backup goalie Johan Hedberg went 3-0 with a .945 percent save percentage including two shootouts where he was a perfect 4-4. Hedberg was called to duty in New Jersey's 2-1 shootout win over Los Angeles after Martin Brodeur left with a shoulder injury. Hedberg went 16-16 in relief of Brodeur and shut the door in overtime and sudden death. So is Hedberg the answer in net? Head coach Pete DeBoer said earlier this month that he would need both goalies to perform at a high level during their nine games in October, but Hedberg has now appeared in three of the team's four games. Brodeur is battling his third injury in the past four years, and was outplayed by the Philadelphia Flyers in the season opener. Brodeur is a future Hall of Famer who has earned his spot in this organization over the years.
