The Tampa Bay Lightning were hoping to get back to winning against the New Jersey Devils Thursday night. But as the game progressed, hope faded quickly and the Bolts struggled offensively once again losing 4-2. With New Jersey leading 1-0 in the second period, Nate Thompson tied it up for the Lightning when Martin St. Louis found him alone in front of then net. However, New Jersey went on to score three unanswered goals including two in the third period after an odd sequence of penalties against Tampa Bay were called. Lightning defenseman Matt Carle would score with 2:15 left in regulation but obviously proved to not be enough. The Lightning managed just 19 shots on goal for the game. Devils’ goaltender Martin Brodeur stopped 17 of those 19 shots. The Tampa Bay Lightning power play has gone sour the past couple games. They were 0-for-4 against Devils. The Lightning are now 6-4-0 with 12 points on the season. Fortunately, they still lead the Southeast division by two points over the Carolina Hurricanes. The post Devils hand the Lightning their third straight loss appeared first on The Bay Cave.
