On Scott Niedermayer the Devils confirmed the suspicion that they’re hot.
The Devils retired the jersey of long time Defenseman Scott Niedermayer and with the Devils playing well there was a positive atmosphere at Prudential Center. But going into the game there was a little concern that Richard Bachman was playing so well he may stymie the Devils and ruin the night. This was not the case. Although Dallas took the lead about 9 minutes into the game; David Clarkson snuck a bad angle shot past Bachman to tie it up and leave the first with a tie. The Devils generated good chances but were too cute at times trying to set up perfect plays and hesitating to shoot the puck.
