TEAMS: Boston Bruins, New York Rangers
The Bruins earned one point on Wednesday against the Rangers — with an emphasis on earned.
Boston scratched and clawed their way to an overtime loss against New York, but a point’s a point. A Nathan Horton goal late in the third period was enough to push things to OT, but Marian Gaborik‘s hat trick proved too much for the B’s to overcome. Despite Tuukka Rask‘s best efforts, the Bruins head home losers for the first time, even if they didn’t come home empty-handed as far as the standings are concerned.
There’s still plenty to be optimistic about, however, and NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is still excited about the heart the Bruins showed. Plus, Dougie Hamilton recorded the first NHL point of his career, and the rookie defenseman certainly proved that he’ll be one to watch this season.
That’s why Hamilton is our “Power Point” player of the game award. Who’s yours?

Boston Bruins steal a point in New York
Tuukka Rask’s play was not enough for the Bruins to win two points in New York
The other day I wrote about how in the past the Boston Bruins came out slow and tired during matinee games, likely due to a night previous of crazy partying or whatever the kids do these days. That didn’t happen on Monday afternoon even though it was an early-season matinee and the opponent wasn...
Dougie shining so far
One of the most talked about Bruin's players coming into the season was 19-year old Dougie Hamilton, pegged to be the future of this team's defensive unit.
The Bruins, along with Hamilton, are off to a tremendous start. Watching the first two games, I thought Hamilton was noticeably one of the better players on the ice. He is demonstrating poise and maturity, covering his...
Power play connects, Seidenberg still sidelined
Before last night's Bruins-Rangers match, I wrote how I was hoping to see the power play light the lamp for the first time this season. 1:05 into the second period, they did just that with a Brad Marchand goal. Nice to see, but the fact remains after last night's game the power play unit is now 1-14 on the year (1-5 on last night's game). If this team is going to contend...
Claude Julien Knows Importance of Balancing Goalies, But Favorable Early Schedule Should Help
BOSTON – Claude Julien knows a shortened season will provide some unusual circumstances that may lead to some unusual coaching decisions. But in terms of divvying up goaltending responsibilities, the Bruins head coach isn’t thinking too far ahead.
Tuukka Rask got his second start in as many games on Monday for the B’s matinee tilt with the Winnipeg Jets, but it’s clear...
Bruins fan in stands ends up with souvenir puck…in his glass of beer (video)
On Monday night, the Boston Bruins hosted the Winnipeg Jets at the TD Garden. One lucky fan in attendance was fortunate enough to walk out of the arena with a souvenir puck. Unfortunately for said lucky fan, in order to acquire such a prized memento from his evening watching NHL hockey, he had to sacrifice his glass of beer to obtain it. The cameras tracked down the lucky young...
P-Bruins Tough Guy Bobby Robins Shares Touching Tale of Inspirational Trip to Children’s Hospital
The Providence Bruins may have opened some eyes in the Boston Bruins’ front office last week when the AHL affiliate took down the big boys in a scrimmage at TD Garden.
Perhaps no member of the Baby B’s stood out more than journeyman forward Bobby Robins. The 31-year-old Wisconsin native showed no fear going against the NHL club, pushing and shoving every chance he got. At...
Tyler Seguin Making a Play for Boomer Esiason’s Daughter
She’s everything I look for in a QB’s daughter T…
Tyler Seguin is a right winger for the boston Bruins. He also just may be the biggest pimp in hockey. Last time we checked in on Tyler, he was spending his holidays with Playboy playmate Ciara Price. Now he has his sights set on former NFL QB Boomer Esiason’s daughter Sydney Esiason. Check out these tweets. That would be...
Rangers Finally Playing Like Stanley Cup Favorites They Are as Bruins Withstand Furious Assault (Video)
The Rangers are expected to contend for a Stanley Cup this season. Problem is, their first two games of the year didn’t do a whole lot to make that expectation a reality.
On Wednesday, though, the Blueshirts came out firing against the Bruins and Tuukka Rask, and Boston was probably lucky to be trailing by only two goals after one period. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is impressed...
Bruins Fan’s Beer Gets All PUCKED UP (VIDEO)
If you live in Boston and love hockey, nothing gets better than taking in a Bruins game with a cold brew.
However, this fan got even more than even he bargained for.
This past Monday in a game versus the Winnipeg Jets, Bruins forward Tyler Seguin shot the puck and it was deflected in the stands.
It’s landing spot?
In a $12 beer.
Team and concessions owner Jeremy Jacobs was probably...
Never Make a Bet With a Bruins Blogger
Sorry guys, because the Rangers lost the opener to the Bruins, I've been forced to publish this brag post by Greg of Bloguin's Boston Bruins blog "Day's of Y'Orr". Ugh...
Hello Rags fans. I hope you all are having a terrible day, remembering how both the Bruins and the Penguins completely annilhated the "best team in the Eastern Conference"...
How Andrew Ference Of The Bruins Made Me Eat Crow & I’m Happy He Did
My perception (and of many fans) of the Bruins Andrew Ference prior to the Stanley Cup Championship was of a nice player that was injury prone. He reminded me of Mr. Glass in the Bruce Willis movie “Unbreakable”, Ference just could not stay on the ice.
From 2007-2010, he missed 79 games almost an entire season. Most players may have been let go for a healthier option, but the...
Islanders Come to Town: Is the Power Play Improving?
Ok, so I am obsessed with Dougie Hamilton. I truly believe he is going to be a difference maker for this team's power play and defense. Even though he is just 19 years old he has already helped on both ends.
On Wednesday against the Rangers Dougie made a few great checks to save scoring opportunities and ended the dreadful 0-11 power play when he blasted a puck from within...
Ty Anderson: Learning NHL in the now key for Hamilton
While cliche, itâs been said by everybody lucky enough to don one that putting a Boston Bruins sweater on is simply more than that. In Boston, thereâs a certain way of doing things, a certain style, attitude, and swagger that comes with the Black-and-Gold. Itâs been that way from the very beginning, starting with the days of Eddie Shore and now into 2013 with a roster...
Gaborik’s Hat-Trick Lifts Rangers Over Bruins In OT
Rangers 4, Bruins 3 (OT)
The Bruins headed into the Big Apple on Wednesday night for a nationally televised rematch of last Saturday’s season-opener against the Rangers, which the B’s won 3-1. Both teams had two games under their belt in this shortened season heading into Wednesday’s “Rivalry Night” – the Bruins undefeated after beating the Jets in a shootout on Monday...
Islanders-Bruins Preview
The Boston Bruins are off to a strong start even with their offense not fully in gear yet.
Matchups with the New York Islanders usually provide a big boost to their production.
Boston looks to rebound from its first loss and continue its success against the Islanders when the teams meet Friday night at TD Garden.
Expected to be among the best teams in the Eastern Conference, the...
