Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty already has a Stanley Cup under his belt, and he also won a gold medal earlier this year with Team Canada at the Olympics. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t still get excited for big moments. Doughty and the Kings had a huge moment on Sunday  night as they were able to eliminate the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals. Defenseman Alec Martinez was credited with the overtime game-winner that sent the Kings back to the Stanley Cup Final and led to quite the celebration. The Kings poured over the bench at the United Center eager to join the party on the ice. Doughty was particularly excited, and that made the whole getting onto the ice thing — something he’s done roughly a bajillion times in his life — very difficult. The result was, quite frankly, hilarious. Doughty's reaction to winning last night is amazing. GIF: Drew Doughty's hilarious celebration in Kings' OT win

After Alec Martinez scored the Game Seven overtime winner to send the Los Angeles Kings to the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals, the LA bench went insane. Especially Drew Doughty. The Kings defenseman started banging on the glass and then tried to jump over the boards, only to lose his balance and fall down onto the ice. Pure emotion by the 24 year old star. Doughty had seven points in seven...

Won't be denied: Kings resilient again to reach Stanley Cup final

CHICAGO -- The saying goes that history always repeats itself. The Los Angeles Kings, sometimes down but never out, proved that notion with another historic Game 7 playoff win. The Kings, the team that boasted 18 players undefeated in Game 7s, became the first team to win three Game 7s in one postseason when they eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks with a 5-4 overtime win, Sunday night...

Darryl Sutter Sets The Tone For The Los Angeles Kings

from Rich Hammond of the Los Angeles Register, The Kings seem to have taken on the personality of their coach, Darryl Sutter. Yes, he has one. Sutter, a man of few words, can also be defined by a few. Discipline. Preparation. Honesty. Consistency. Work. Work. Work. Sutter is, without contradiction, the most simple and most complex coach in the NHL. In 2 1/2 years on...

Three straight Game 7s: How the Kings got here

CHICAGO -- If you had said the Kings would be on the verge of a second Stanley Cup Final berth in three years about eight weeks ago, people probably would have displayed some strange looks. But the two brutal beatdowns in San Jose and a 3-0 series deficit was only the start of the extremely windy road the Kings have taken in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. There's been more upsets...

LA Kings Headed to the Stanley Cup

#495205745 / gettyimages.com The Kings series lead was pegged back to 3-2 on Wednesday after a 5-4 loss in double overtime on the road in Chicago. Trailing 4-3 entering the final period the hosts got level when Ben Smith buried a rebound past Jonathan Quick just 1.17 after the puck had been dropped. The winner for the Blackhawks came 2.04 into the second overtime period. The Kings...

Competing With The Kings

from Ken Campbell of The Hockey News, The Kings aren’t going anywhere for quite a while. With the exception of Anze Kopitar, who has two years remaining on his contract, Kings GM Dean Lombardi has much of his core locked up in long-term deals. Captain Dustin Brown, who might have been the best player on the ice in the Kings Game 7 overtime win over the Blackhawks, is under...

Kings-Blackhawks Game 7 is NBCSN’s highest-rated NHL broadcast ever

The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks finished a series for the ages in fitting fashion Sunday night. A fluke goal in an overtime ended the series on a heartbreaking note. The seventh game between the second and third largest markets was a big hit. Game 7 drew a 3.17 overnight rating for NBCSN, the highest ever for an NHL game on the network. While NBCSN has only been around...

Hawks-Kings Game 7 post-game pressers

The NHL posted the players and coaches' presser transcripts after the Chicago Blackhawks lost Game 7 to the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night, but the videos might better convey the tone of their comments. First, Hawks coach Joel Quenneville took to the podium... Then Kings coach Darryl Sutter was hilariously awkward as usual, while wearing a suit two sizes too big...
