So many arguments can be made to support the notion that professional athletes make little, to no, contribution to the betterment of society. Alternatively, however, one could argue that what sports provide society in its time of need or darkness is intangible and we couldn’t live without them. Whatever view you might take about athletes and their governing Leagues, you have to admit that the NHL and the NFL as well, are making incredible efforts to push to the forefront, increased awareness of cancer during the month of October. Be it pink shoes, lavender hockey tape on sticks, or a purple “Hockey Fights Cancer” logo on helmets, the professional leagues want it known that they too, want to eradicate cancer.
This year, on their “Hockey Fights Cancer Night,” the Ducks are partnering with the Orange County chapter of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help raise awareness for LLS. LLS seeks to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkins Disease, and Myeloma and improve the quality of li...

Tap those sticks on the ice for the selflessness of hockey fans.
The participation in Hockey Fights Cancer has become a popular, unifying event that has raised millions of dollars for cancer research and treatment throughout North America.
In other words, the generosity on display at Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night at the Honda Center Friday night literally saves lives.
Despite the crackdown on headshots and blindside hits, League referees don’t always make the right call. Last night’s incident is a perfect example of just that when Anaheim Ducks enforcer George Parros delivered his shoulder to the face of Dallas Stars Krys Barch; Barch clearly had no idea it was coming.
While we expected these two to get a bit chippy, a blindside hit is illegal...
Anaheim Ducks center Saku Koivu spent 13 memorable seasons with the Montreal Canadiens. He signed his share of autographs during that time; but it was someone else using his signature that got Koivu tangled in an odd tale of fraud and thievery.
According to La Presse on Friday (in French), Saku Koivu received a tax refund check from the Quebec government for $140,899 in Sept. 2009...
There are few things more honorable than being named the "most valuable" at something. In hockey, the player who proves to be the league's most valuable player is awarded with the Hart Memorial Trophy. Ducks forward Corey Perry was given the Hart this past season after a tremendous campaign in Anaheim. Another prestigious trophy not named Stanley is the Art Ross Trophy...
October is Hockey Fights Cancer Month in the NHL. Every team around the league has taken one game during the month to focus on fighting cancer. The Ducks will have their night on Friday evening against the Dallas Stars. The Ducks have partnered with the Orange County/Inland Empire chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help raise awareness for LLS. Both...
Dallas Stars @ Anaheim Ducks
9:00 PM - October 21, 2011
Honda Center, Anaheim, California
There's been only six games so far this season for the Dallas Stars, but there may be very few as anticipated as the game that's happening tonight. The red hot Stars (5-1-0) are on the second game of their roadtrip and will find themselves playing the equally streaking Anahiem Ducks...
It might have been the last remnants of my jet lag, but the game between the Ducks and Stars was so uninspiring, I nearly fell asleep during the third period. I would not have missed much. The whole game was a snoozefest from start to finish. Unless you are a Dallas fan. In that case, things looked pretty good indeed.Right from the get go you knew it was not going to go...
So George Parros might be in a little trouble. Early in the second period of Friday night's game between the Dallas Stars and the Anaheim Ducks, Parros caught Krys Barch with a shoulder to the head.
It's exactly the type of hit the league is trying to get rid of, eerily similar to the one that knocked out Sidney Crosby. If Brendan Shanahan doesn't suspend, people will...

While it’s difficult to find a silver lining in the wake of Jason Blake’s injury that will keep him out three months, there has been an opportunity created for one young Duck. Brandon McMillan is get...
A poor start their last time out helped end the Anaheim Ducks' early win streak. Their next opponent had trouble getting its offense going throughout its most recent game.
The Ducks will try to get back on track Sunday when they host the Phoenix Coyotes, who will seek to avoid a third straight defeat.
Anaheim allowed two goals in the first 7:40 against visiting Dallas on Friday...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Loui Eriksson had a fluke goal 13 seconds after the opening faceoff and scored again early in the third
period, leading Dallas to a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night and helping extend the Stars' winning streak
to five games.
From Mike Heika at the Dallas News:
Krys Barch was hit in the head by George Parros’ shoulder from the blind side. No penalty was called, but Parros could get a suspension.

The Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks are both off to quick starts. The two will look to establish some momentum in the Pacific Division tonight as each club puts a four-game winning streak on the line at the Honda Center.
