Anaheim Ducks forward Saku Koivu left Sunday’s game after taking a shoulder hit to the head in the second period and did not return, as per the team’s official Twitter account. The hit occurred with less than a minute remaining in the second period as Koivu made a pass to his right and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky came over and hit him. Koivu attempted to get up on his own, but only made it to his knees before going back down. He was helped off the ice. Dubinsky was given a major interference and a game misconduct penalty on the play. Koivu, the 38-year-old veteran, has two goals and one assist through the team’s first 12 games. Although he hasn’t seen his name on the score sheet that often, he remains a key part of the team’s success so far this season. After the game, head coach Bruce Boudreau said that Koivu was “knocked out” and “he looked like he was ok”. No additional information is available at this time. The team also just lost Silverberg for several weeks....
