The Anaheim Ducks have signed goaltender Frederik Andersen to a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season. No financial terms were disclosed. The Ducks announced the signing a few minutes after Andersen's 26-save performance in a 2-1 road victory against the Ottawa Senators. Andersen, 24, made his NHL debut Oct. 20 against the Dallas Stars. He entered the game in relief of Jonas Hiller to start the second period and stopped all 24 shots he faced as the Ducks rallied for a 6-3 victory.

Teemu Selanne autographs tattoo of Teemu Selanne

I'm not really a fan of dudes getting tattooed with images of other dudes — even if they are your sports idol or Yosemite Sam — but this tattoo of NHL star  Teemu Selanne is pretty awesome. And it just got more awesome. One guy in Montreal decided to get Selanne tattooed onto his arm with the Anaheim Ducks logo by the side and — with the Ducks in Montreal for a...

Ducks’ Silfverberg out 4-6 weeks, Perreault day-to-day

The Anaheim Ducks left Ottawa down a few men. The team announced that forward Jakob Silfverberg is out 4-6 weeks with a broken right hand and Mathieu Perreault is day-to-day with a sprained left wrist. Both injuries occurred in the team’s 2-1 win against the Ottawa Senators on October 25th. Silfverberg got hurt when he was slashed by Jared Cowen midway through the third period...

Dustin Penner resumes skating without concussion symptoms

Dustin Penner skated for the first time since the suspension worthy hit by Ryan Garbutt, and he was able to do it without any lingering concussion symptoms, this according to the OC Register’s Eric Stephens. This was great news for the Ducks of Anaheim. He was not able to suit up for last nights game against the Ottawa Senators. Stephens does report that he may be able to join...

Versatile forward Silfverberg settling in with Ducks

Jakob Silfverberg got a call from Rome shortly after he learned he had become a member of the Anaheim Ducks as part of the trade that saw the Ottawa Senators acquire Bobby Ryan. It came from All-Star defenseman and now-former teammate Erik Karlsson, who himself was just coming to terms with the news. "He was obviously very shocked at the moment, and so was I," said Karlsson...

Longer Suspensions Needed?

from Roy MacGregor of the Globe and Mail, Anaheim Ducks winger Teemu Selanne, the NHL’s elder statesman at 43 and perhaps the most widely respected player in today’s game, said in Montreal the suspensions handed out to the likes of Kaleta are inadequate. “I don’t think they’re enough,” Selanne told reporters. “The next night, the same thing happens.” ...

Ducks-Blue Jackets Preview

After earning their first win on their longest road trip of the season, the Anaheim Ducks will try to slow down a Columbus Blue Jackets team that's gained some confidence since returning home. The Ducks will seek to snap Columbus' three-game winning streak as their eight-game trek continues Sunday night. Anaheim (8-3-0) had a seven-game win streak snapped when it opened...

Ducks-Senators Preview

The Anaheim Ducks have cooled off in Canada. Visiting the nation's capital could get them untracked. The Ducks attempt to avoid a third straight loss at the beginning of their longest road trip of the season when they face the Ottawa Senators again Friday night. Anaheim (7-3-0) entered this eight-game trip having tied a franchise record with seven straight victories. It didn...

Canadiens beat Ducks to snap two-game skid

Saku Koivu doesn't want to think about the possibility his team's visit to Bell Centre on Thursday may have been his last. But if it was it was a great way for the former Montreal Canadiens captain to go out. Koivu's Anaheim Ducks weren't able to get him a win Thursday as Tomas Plekanec had a goal and two assists and Carey Price made 31 saves to lead the Canadiens...

Montreal Bests Ducks 4-1

So far not so good on this eight game road trip.  Two games down, two losses in a row.  First a 4-2 loss to Toronto and then a 4-1 loss to Montreal.   Ouch.  This was a team who put together seven wins in a row to tie a franchise record and now they cannot find the net.  Having the power play elude them is not helping either. "We didn’t play fast, and we didn’t...
