The Ducks took center Peter Holland off his yo-yo ride between the minor leagues and the NHL on Saturday, trading the 22-year-old to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Ducks, who also parted with minor-league right wing Brad Staubitz in the deal, obtained minor-league defenseman Jesse Blacker and third- and seventh-round 2014 draft picks.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Blacker, 22, was assigned to the Ducks affiliate in Norfolk, Va.
Holland, a first-round pick in 2009, scored a goal in four games with the Ducks this season and played in 29 games total over the last three seasons, scoring three goals with two assists last season.
He had five goals and four assists in 10 games with Norfolk, but couldnt break through with the first-place Ducks, who have Ryan Getzlaf, veteran Saku Koivu, off-season acquisition Mathieu Perreault and Nick Bonino at center.
Staubitz, 29, was scoreless with 10 penalty minutes in Norfolk.
