It was always assumed that Ducks winger Bobby Ryan would eventually join the Philadelphia Flyers. That day was not Friday. After years of trade rumors, Ryan, who grew up in suburban Philadelphia, was finally dealt by Anaheim in exchange for two players and a future draft pick -- except his destination is Ottawa, not Philly. The Ducks acquired right wing Jakob Silfverberg and prospect Stefan Noesen as well as the Senators' first-round pick in 2014. There are salary-cap implications all over this transaction. The 26-year-old Ryan, a proven goal scorer, has two years remaining on his contract, and his average annual value will be 5.56 million this coming season. In contrast, Silfverberg is set to make 900,000 in 2013-14. It was clear the Ducks would have to make a major move in terms of the salary cap after having signed captain and center Ryan Getzlaf and winger Corey Perry to sizable long-term contract extensions. Ryan had 30 points in the lockout shortened season. Previously, he has had four 30-goal seasons and was a dynamic force on the Ducks' top line with Getzlaf and Perry. Silfverberg, 22, had 10 goals and 19 points in 48 games with the Senators and will bolster the Ducks' second line. Noesen, a first-round draft choice of the Senators two years ago, played for Plymouth (Mich.) of the Ontario Hockey League last season, scoring 25 goals and 53 points.
