At this young stage of the NHL season, no fewer than 12 goaltenders are allowing fewer than 2.00 goals per game. Many of the sport’s top netminders are enjoying brilliant starts. But here are six that have fans highly concerned:Roberto Luongo, Canucks: Nobody is shocked that he suffered a slow start – 1-2-1 with 3.70 GAA and .856 save percentage. He has been down this trail before. Most experts figure he’ll get back on track, since his save percentage hasn’t dipped below .913 in the post-lockout era. But his .928 percentage last season was a deviation from his mark of .913 the season prior and .914 during the postseason, so expect a regression to the mean. Dwayne Roloson, Lightning: He allowed seven games in Tampa Bay’s home opener. He has allowed five goals or more in three of his four starts. He can do better; after coming to the Lightning last season from the Islanders, Roloson posted a 2.56 GAA and a .912 save percentage.Jaroslav Halak, Blues: Coach Davis Payne yanked him from Tuesday night’s 5-0 loss at Los Angeles. He is 1-4 with a 3.47 GAA and .835 save percentage. Halak played well in streaks last season, but he won just 21 of his last 49 starts as his save percentage sank to .910. Craig Anderson, Senators: Under new coach Paul MacLean, this team hasn’t checked anybody. They have allowed 30 goals in six games. Last season Anderson won 11 of 18 starts after arriving in a late-season trade with Colorado. He recorded a 2.05 GAA and .939 save percentage during that span. The year before he was 38-25-7 with a 2.63 GAA, a .917 save percentage and seven shutouts for the Avalanche. So he cann excel, if given proper support.Steve Mason, Blue Jackets: During his previous two seasons his goals-against average soared from 2.29 to 3.05 and 3.03. He was 24-21-7 with a .901 save percentage last year. So far we have seen more of the same for winless Columbus: Mason is 0-5-1 with a 3.35 GAA and .883 save percentage.Carey Price, Canadiens: After two so-so seasons, he celebrated Halak’s departure by winning 38 games and posting superior ratios (2.35, .923) in the Montreal pressure cooker. But is he sliding back to his old ways? He is 1-3-1 this season with a 2.78 GAA and an .855 save percentage.
