The NHL is past its halfway point and headed down the stretch towards the playoffs. This is when goalies are relied upon the most and rise to the top of their game in a push for Lord Stanley’s mug. Here is a look at a few goalies who had rough starts, which may have sent them down to the waiver wire in shallower leagues or at least earned them a seat on the bench. These five goalies are an absolute must to be played every day in all fantasy formats for the rest of the season. 1. Jaroslav Halak – St. Louis Blues 15-9-5, 1.97 GAA .922 SV% With the stat line above you’d hardly think Halak was struggling at any point this season. In Halak’s first six games of the season he allowed 20 goals and had an abysmal save percentage of .846. Backup Brian Elliot appeared that he was going to steal the number one spot from him and was voted into the all-star game for his play in the first half. Halak turned it around in November but was still splitting time with Elliot pla...

Pouring Some Salt In The Wounds, Sabres Pummel Bruins

It was exactly the type of game the Sabres needed, a complete, dominating game from start to finish.  Buffalo found the back of the net early and often and even chased starting goaltender Tuuka Rask on their way to a 6-0 win over the Northeast division leading Boston Bruins. Jason Pominville scored twice and Ryan Miller made 36 saves to lead the Sabres to their fourth win in their...

With Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff nursing three broken ribs and watching from the press box, goalie Ryan Miller made 36 saves to earn his second shutout in three games in a 6-0 win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.

Ty Anderson: Bruins return to Buffalo to face Ruff-less Sabres

Declared the winners of the 2011 off-season before the team even began skating, things haven't gone well for the Buffalo Sabres. Not at all, actually. A point away from dead last in the Eastern Conference, the Sabres have been crushed by the inconsistency of Ryan Miller, whose a bad game away from a sub-.900 save-percentage and goals-against-average over three. They've...

Sabres Finally Stand Up To Those Big, Bad Bruins

With the ship rapidly sinking on a once-promising season, the Sabres, picked by many to contend for the Northeast Division title, were in need of a lift emotionally as much as they needed two points in the standings. Sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference and a country mile out of a playoff spot, Buffalo welcomed the hated Boston Bruins in to town. It was in a game against these...

Recap: Buffalo vs. Boston

Ducks Prevail in OT Against Hurricanes

Sometimes you have to fight for every single point in the NHL. Some nights, you have to fight even harder. The Ducks fought hard enough on Wednesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes to get a 3-2 overtime win. There were no formal fights on the ice. Not even roughing penalties. But every shift was a battle for both sides in a well matched game between two teams languishing...

Pick The Winner (2/8)

Here we go again with another edition of "Pick The Winner". Let's see what is the pick of the day ladies and gentlemen. ============================================= Carolina Hurricanes @ Anaheim Ducks - UNDER 5.5 GOALS (-117) (Note: I'm risking 1.17 units to win 1 unit) Carolina enters this game winners of two straight and 4 of their last 6. The Hurricanes...

Ducks need overtime, and a lucky break, to defeat Hurricanes

Corey Perry scores 2:14 into overtime after avoiding an apparent tripping penalty and Jonas Hiller makes 31 saves in the 3-2 victory over Carolina. If the Ducks are to have any hope of returning to the playoffs this spring they're going to need a lot more gutsy performances like the one they turned in Wednesday at Honda Center, where they beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2, in overtime.

NBCSN doubleheader tonight

PHT: When last we saw the Sabres and Bruins get together, Paul Gaustad was duking it out with Milan Lucic and defending Ryan Miller‘s honor a game too late as the Bruins stormed back to win in a shootout.
