It is Wednesday already and time for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers. The Rangers are up one game to none after a 3-0 win on Monday Night that caused the blocked shot issue to become even more of one. It was blown up a bit earlier this morning when Martin Brodeur suggested maybe you have to shoot at them. Yes we paraphrased this for a reason. There is much worse that has been said and the reality is there are ways to beat it.  New Jersey just has to do a better job playing defense than they did in Game 1. That is what gets lost in the shuffle here. It always seems to. With the anticipated line changes (yes Parise-Zajac-Kovalchuk are back together), it will be interesting to see what happens here. Game 1 honestly saw Zach Parise get manhandled once again and at times it just looks like he is rattled by it. Maybe the time and space generated by Kovalchuk and Zajac will help him but I just do not see it. The ...

Martin Brodeur not a fan of Madison Square Garden

The Devils evened their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Rangers with a 3-2 win in Game 2 on Wednesday. Martin Brodeur allowed two goals for the second straight game, and he was particularly irked about the first goal he allowed in Game 2 — one that was scored thanks to a rebound off the boards. “It’s a tough place to play,” he said of Madison Square Garden...

Head shots -- Hit some pucks at Rangers' heads: Marty Brodeur

As careers go, they just don't get much better than this. On top of all that, Brodeur still has a chance to add to his storied career -- even at age 40. The...

Rangers Have Advantage Over Devils in Goal

Here's Martin Brodeur on facing Henrik Lundqvist in the Eastern Conference Finals (via New York Post)..."He's unbelievable. He is lately. He's kind of the top goalie in the NHL right now. Devils Have to Be Better

After last night's Game 1 loss to the Rangers the Devils talked about being better for Game 2 (via Bergen Record)...Zach Parise..."We have to be better and we know that and we will be. We played well for 40 minutes and that was it. And that last 20 we let slip away a little bit and they took advantage of it and that's the game right there."Patrick Elias..."...

Rangers surge in 3rd period of Game 1

It was not a wraparound that beat Martin Brodeur this time. It was a slapshot. "I want to be a difference-maker," said Dan Girardi, the beaten Broadway fedora resting atop his head a few minutes after his slapshot from the point gave the New York Rangers a lead they would not relinquish. The home team went on to a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils in Game 1 of the Eastern...

Zidlicky a big reason for Devils' success

From Zach Parise to Ilya Kovalchuk to Martin Brodeur to David Clarkson, there have been a myriad of leading men in the New Jersey Devils' run to the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference Final. But from the team's perspective, there is an unsung component to their success: Defenseman Marek Zidlicky. "He's been really important, No. 1 with the power play...

Lundqvist shuts out Devils in opener

Whether that was simply gamesmanship or not from the proven playoff performer, Lundqvist seemed impervious to the pressure of that mantel with a 21...
