Found December 10, 2013 on The Nosebleeds:
Every hockey season there are usually a handful of occasions when a screaming puck or big hit will break a pane of glass at an NHL arena. One of those instances occurred Tuesday night in Sunrise, Florida during the Panthers-Red Wings game. Unfortunately, Florida – still figuring out this whole “hockey” thing – was very unprepared for such an occasion. The did, however, come up with a alternative fix. Instead of swapping out the broken pane of plexiglass with a replacement, the Panthers decided that a simple sheet of plywood would suffice. Same thing, right? Pane of Glass Breaks During Red Wings-Panthers Game, Arena Had No Backup Glass to Replace It (Photos)

A pane of glass on the end boards broke during the third period of Tuesday’s Red Wings-Panthers game in Florida, which turned out to be much more of a problem than it should have been. Usually when this situation occurs, the arena crew will install a new section of glass, which results in a short delay in the game. But the Panthers didn’t have any replacement glass to use, so...

Broken glass doesn't break Panthers' rally over Red Wings

SUNRISE, Fla. -- If the Florida Panthers score a goal and fans behind the net can't see it, does it count? Midway through the third period of Florida's 3-2 shootout victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Monday night, Nick Bjugstad broke a panel of glass behind the Red Wings net. But the plexiglass the Panthers maintenance team prepared to bring out broke on the way to the...

Panthers have to block fans’ view after replacing broken glass

The Florida Panthers have not been able to find ways to get fans to come to their games this season. They average a little less than 14,000 fans per home game, which is the fourth fewest in the NHL. Florida’s 10-17-5 record has a lot to do with their poor attendance. Their inability to replace […]

Eklund: KHL Factor is Limiting Offers for Kulikov

Talked to a source today about Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov, who has been in waves of trade rumors followed by waves of his name not being mentioned very much. Now the rumors are red hot again since Kulikov was recently a healthy scratch. The widespread belief has been that the Panthers -- and other teams -- are fearful that the 23-year-old Kulikov will return to...

PHOTO: How Florida repairs broken glass at NHL games

We’ve found that a general theme amongst our NHL posts is mocking the state of Florida when it comes to their hockey teams, especially the Florida Panthers who continue to display a tremendous amount of ineptitude when running their team. That continued Tuesday night during a game against the Detroit Red Wings. During the third more »

Botched plexiglass replacement leaves some Panthers fans with obstructed view* (pics/vid)

* no view The maintenance crew at BB&T Center, the home arena of the Florida Panthers, truly experienced a night they certainly would much rather forget during the home team’s game against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Boyes gets shootout winner in 3-2 Panthers' victory over Red Wings

Panthers coach Peter Horachek uses his healthy scratches wisely, and as motivation for the benched player. So when he sat down Brad Boyes, the Panthers' leading goal scorer, in Sunday's loss to the Blackhawks, the veteran winger got the message loud and clear. Boyes scored the game-deciding goal in the shootout to give the Panthers a stirring 3-2 comeback victory over the...

Dan Spiegel: Consistently Inconsistent

Quick hit before I head down to South Florida tomorrow for some warm weather and Panthers hockey, amongst other things. The Panthers are 5-5-1 in their last 11 games and show signs of big improvement under the new coaching regime lead by Peter Horachek. However, there are still energy lapses that are inexcusable. Especially to start games. But John Madden and Brian Skrudland...

Red Wings-Panthers wrap-up and overnight report: 32 games in, jittery Wings performing as expected

My overriding thought regarding the Red Wings' 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers, at least when I was trying to curl up in bed until my, "Be a responsible adult with a bad virus and write up a wrap-up, dammit" voice in my head won out, had little to do with the Wings' litany of 3rd-period collapses, their 10 straight shootout defeats, Jimmy Howard's...

Red Wings' Datsyuk returns against Panthers

After spending the past seven games on the shelf with concussion-like symptoms, Detroit Red Wings' center Pavel Datsyuk returned to the lineup on Tuesday evening and gave the Florida Panthers a headache.Although the Panthers pulled out a 3-2 shootout win, Datsyuk made his presence felt in short order, assisting on linemate Todd Bertuzzi's sixth goal of the season in...
