While the Philadelphia Flyers are expected to be sellers at the deadline, the team desperately needed depth at Defensemen. With Braydon Coburn and Andrej Meszaros out for the year, Philadelphia has acquired Kent Huskins from the Detroit Red Wings. The compensation is a conditional 7th round draft pick in 2014.
The 33 year old Huskins was without a team until after the end of the lockout, signing with Detroit three days after the season started. In 11 games with the team he recorded zero points and four PIM. He also spent two games with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL, in which he recorded one assist. But Huskins may not necessarily be game ready, as he has not played since a February 24th affair versus the Vancouver Canucks.
If Huskins has anything going for him, it’s that he’s listed at 6’2″, 205 lbs., and can be somewhat imposing physically.
