Philadelphia Flyers right wing Ian Laperriere is doing his best to keep a positive attitude while he waits to be cleared for his return to the ice.
"I go with the flow," Laperriere said. "I am just seeing where life is going to take me. I try everything, I tried TV last year. Hopefully, if my eye clears up, there’s hope in that regard.
"I go day by day and I feel better everyday, and it’s just blurry in my eye and hopefully that’s going to go away."
Although he did not play a game last season, Laperriere won the 2010-11 Bill Masterton Trophy, which is presented to the player who best exemplifies persverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
The 37-year-old Montreal native collected 121 goals, 215 assists and 1,956 penalty minutes in 1,083 career games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and Flyers.
