After an eye-opening performance at his second rookie camp with the Philadelphia Flyers, Nick Cousins has gotten himself into some trouble.

According to a release from the Sault Ste. Marie police, Cousins, along with his Soo Greyhounds teammates Mark Petaccio and Andrew Fritsch have been charged with sexual assault. The three are scheduled to appear in court on October 1st.

After receiving news of these charges, the Soo Greyhounds released this statement on their website:

Earlier today our organization was made aware of accusations involving three members of our hockey program.

Over the course of time that each of these players has been part of our program we have seen each of them make excellent strides both on and off the ice. The strides made over each young man's tenure here are what makes today's situation so surprising.

Our Hockey Club will continue to perform our duty in supporting the three members of our team as they go through the legal process. Our Hockey Club will now allow the legal process to run its due course at this time. We will also continue to support the investigation of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services in any way possible.

Cousins, 19, was drafted by the Flyers 68th overall (3rd round) in the 2011 NHL Draft. Last season in his sixty-five games with the Greyhounds, he scored 35 goals and tallied 53 assists, for a total of 88 points.

Cousins his currently regarded as the Flyers top prospect. His skill-set is continuing to develop, but his gritty, physical play and ability to get under the skin of his opponents is noticeable. It is likely that he will spend atleast one more season with his junior team to before making his NHL debut.
