For the 2011-12 season, Petr Straka and Samuel Morin were teammates in the QMJHL while playing for Rimouski Oceanic.
With the Philadelphia Flyers selection of Morin Sunday afternoon, their winding paths may finally cross again. Straka, a former 2nd round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010, was signed by the Flyers on April 11th after Columbus opted not to sign him to an entry level contract, and he was not re-selected in last year’s draft.
Straka spoke to TheHockeyGuys.net, and shared a little bit about his soon to be again teammate.
“We ended up next to each other in the [locker] room.” He was always quiet and did his stuff.He was only 16 and i must say he improved a lot during the year. He also got bigger.”
