From the creators of Flyers T-shirt GIVE-AWAY Day 1: Caption Contest Hartnell shirt edition, comes Day 2… featuring five more shirts. That’s right, FIVE, and just in time for tonight’s match-up with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I figured we’d change up the challenge a bit and move away from captions on Flyers related photographs. What you must do is predict the outcome of tonight’s game. As you can see above, one of the prize shirts features the name of up and coming stick handling phenom, Claude Giroux. The identity of the players featured on the four remaining shirts PLUS rules on how to win await you after the Jump.
This one is a bit more complicated, so read carefully. To win one of the five shirts on display, simply predict the final score of tonight’s game and post it in a comment. Get the right score, and you’re in the running for a shirt. Get it wrong… and you’re done.
Now, you might be saying, “What if I predict the same score as some other guy and we both end up being right?” Well, I say… when making your score prediction, further narrow it down by putting which team has what score. Flyers 4… Leafs 3. So you have the right out come… 4-3… but you had the Leafs scoring 4 and the Flyers 3. If there are five more people than you who have the correct score and who scored it, then you're out. Get it?
Now, you’re probably saying, “What if I predict the same score as some other guy and while I’m at it, say the right teams scored those goals?” Well, then I say, along with the score and the teams that scored it… put one of the goal scorers you predict will light the lamp tonight.
Okay… take a deep breath. To recap, I want all potential commentors to predict the score, which team gets what score, and one of the goal scorers. Seems far fetched? Well, its just a precaution. Let’s say, by some miracle, more than five people get the score, the teams, and one of the goal scorers correct. Then what? All those geniuses get their names put in a hat… and the first five drawn get a shirt.
On the opposite side of the coin, what if LESS than five people get the prediction right? Then I take off a stipulation. If you get the score and the teams right, but not the goal scorer, and there are still shirts available… you’re in the running. Same goes for mixing up the teams. If there’s still shirts available and you got the correct score but wrong position of teams, you still have a chance.
Now, let’s hope this doesn’t happen… but it may. No one gets the score right. Not one of you. If we get anywhere near the deluge of comments we got for day 1… I can’t see that happening. But say it does. I’ll take anyone who got one of the goal scorers right and throw them in a hat. First five pulled get a shirt.
My hierarchy is as follows:
1. Correct Score
2. Correct Team
3. Goal scorer
Anyone that posts more than one prediction is automatically eliminated. The ability to predict the score and place it in the comments, obviously will end the second the first puck is dropped. These shirts are literally one of a kind, being that they were all single prints. Winners names will be posted in the game-thread of game 2 of the home and home on April 3rd, 2009. If you are one of the five, please send an email with your name and address to the MattP email at the top of the page.
Previous Winners
Three of the previous four winners from Day 1 have checked in and provided their addresses. We are still waiting on the winner of the Large shirt, Gerry... who wrote "This is what we call a 'Thoresen'." I'll give him another day to check in, but if he or she does not, I will go with the runnerup, GaroH.
I hope he's wearing a Cup[cake] because that one's right in the Krimpet.
