The New York Rangers host the Detroit Red Wings in this week's featured NHL game of the week. These are two of the best teams in the NHL with both teams in the hunt for not only their division championship, but also their conference championship. The Rangers have played inspired hockey most of the season, including a 16-4-1 stretch that started just before Christmas. The key to much of that success lies in the talented hands of goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, who ranks at or near the top of every statistical category. With the defense and Lundqvist holding opponents to under two goals per game, the offense, led by Marion Gaborik, Ryan Callahan and Brad Richards, has been able to score enough to potentially lead New York to the Eastern Conference Championship. The Red Wings can attribute their success to a balanced team that scores often and plays tough defense. Led by Pavel Datsyuk, Johan Franzen and Valtteri Filpula on offense, the Wings can put real pressure on the opposing team'...

Postgame: Rangers Meet Their Match in Disappointing Loss to Penguins

New York Rangers GM Glen Sather stated earlier in the week that the Pittsburgh Penguins were the best team in the National Hockey League. The general manager's theory was proven true this evening at Madison Square Garden, but unfortunately it came at the expense of his own club. You can take various routes when analyzing this game from the standpoint of the Rangers, but the...

Rangers recall Chad Johnson

Again, the Rangers have recalled goaltender Chad Johnson. Rangers Receiving Reality Check at the Right Time

There were definitely some mixed emotions among the fans after Thursday night’s 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden. Some were satisfied with the effort and just plainly admitted that the Rangers had lost to a better team. Others were rather disappointed at the end of the night, saying that the effort from the club could have and should have been much better...

Bickel is Rangers' Biggest Surprise, Hagelin a Close Second

By Bruce Berlet When it comes to feel-good stories in the NHL this season, you’d be hard-pressed to find one better than New York Rangers defenseman Stu Bickel, who began the season playing on Asylum Street in Hartford. Though Bickel will never be confused with elusive Hall of Famers Bobby Orr or Cheshire-bred Brian Leetch, he has proven to be one of the NHL’s all-time steals...

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers 3/13/12

The Hurricanes are now winless against both New York teams as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Rangers last night. Despite the score, that's pretty much what this game was like. Carolina managed...
