Legendary broadcaster John Madden has decided to retire, according to a statement released by NBC.
Aside from broadcasting, Madden is the face of the Madden videogame franchise, which is the top selling sports game of all time. He should be okay financially.
As much as Madden gets mocked, he knows his stuff and is probably the best and most well-known color commentator of all time. Speaking of him getting mocked, get ready to hear a whole bunch of Frank Caliendo in the next few days, as I'm sure he'll be making the rounds and doing his impression.
Isn't Caliendo's 15 minutes up yet?
There is no word on who will replace Madden in the broadcast booth next to Al Michaels for Sunday Night Football.
