Found July 25, 2013 on Pro Sports Daily:
The Canucks have signed Port Coquitlam native Zach Hamill a centre and left winger Colin Stuart. Hamill 24 is a former eighth-overall pick of Boston in the 2007 NHL entry draft while Stuart 31 is a career minor leaguer who last season played for the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Elite League. Both are expected to play for the Canucks’ AHL farm club in Utica. Hamill who led the WHL in scoring in the 2006-07 season signed a two-way deal with Vancouver that pays him $550000 in the NHL and $75000 in the minors. He’s looking to resurrect his career after getting into just 20 NHL games in five seassons as a professional. “I had to change my game” said Hamill. “I became more of a complete player more versatility.”

Kevin Freiheit: Thomas Vanek should demand a trade

So Nathan Gerbe is now with the Hurricanes on a 2 way contract. Glad to see someone signed him because I always liked his effort. We'll see if the 86 fans in Carolina will fall in love with Gerbe because of his heart, and seem to miss the fact that there is limited offensive production. Most of you probably heard or saw what Thomas Vanek had to say this week about the team...

Buffalo Sabres forward Thomas Vanek comments on trade rumors

Thomas Vanek comments on trade rumorsHeading into the offseason, the Buffalo Sabres have been surrounded by trade rumors for their two key assets, goaltender Ryan Miller and forward Thomas Vanek.  While both players have displayed their desire to leave if the Sabres are in a long-term rebuild, Vanek decided to comment publicly on the rumors that surround him and has stated...

GARTH: Vanek's Perception Is His Reality

My good man, Shawn Stepner, from WKBW on Buffalo, spoke with Thomas Vanek on Wedesday afternoon, and not surprisingly, the veteran LW doesn't consider the Sabres to be a contender right now. Like all NHLers, Vanek wants to play for a Cup contending team. He wants the Sabres to step up and make moves that will make them a contender, just like many other teams have done this summer. Coming...

Amid rumors, Sabres' Thomas Vanek looks ahead

The subject of trade rumors and speculation since April Thomas Vanek says he hasn’t been fazed by all the chatter. Speaking today with ABC affiliate KTSP in Minneapolis the veteran winger said he expects to be a member of the Buffalo Sabres when camp opens in September. “As of right now yeah. I haven’t heard anything differently. I’m preparing myself like I’m going back...

Kevin Freiheit: Who makes the roster first? Girgensons or Armia?

Here are some questions I pulled from the mailbag already. I'm keeping it open throughout the weekend, but decided to take an early look at some of the submissions. Tom: Who do you think has a better shot at making the roster this season, Mikhail Grigorenko or Joel Armia, or both? This could have been a good question, but I believe Mikhail Grigorenko will be with the Sabres...

GARTH: Shrinking Cap Working Against Vanek

Its Friday July 26th. Cap space in the NHL is so tight that its squeaking. 21 of the 30 NHL clubs have less than $7 million in available cap space available. The squeaking and gnashing of metal on metal that you hear is the NHL salary cap reducing from $70.4 million to $64.3 million. I laughed today when I read that Sabres sniper Thomas Vanek should be demanding a trade out of B...

Kevin Freiheit: Flynn vs. Tropp?

The Sabres have released yet another sneak peek of the 3rd jersey: NEW 3rd JERSEY PHOTO! We'll share more *exclusive* pics in the coming weeks. #Sabres pic.twitter.com/EYRC80wnx9— Buffalo Sabres (@BuffaloSabres) July 26, 2013 I think it's a bid ridiculous how the Sabres keep showing glimpses and portions of the jersey. Just set a date to reveal it, have a press conference...

Canucks Sign Stuart, Hamill by   Steven Ellis

The Vancouver Canucks have signed left winger Colin Stuart and centre Zach Hamill. Hamill spent the 2012-2013 season split between the Hershey Bears and the Milwaukee Admirals, recording 26 total points. Hamill has been in 20 NHL games in his career, tallying 4 assists and 4 PIM with the Bruins. The Vancouver native was selected eighth overall in the 2007 NHL Entry [...]

GARTH: Same As It Ever Was

Its July 24th, and you're probably wondering: "Hey, what's up with Thomas Vanek?" I asked Vanek's agent, Steve Bartlett for an update his client's status and was told: "Nothing new". Vanek has one year ( $7,142,857) remaining on his current contract with the Sabres. The team has not made him an offer to extend his career in Buffalo...

GARTH: CoHo

Thanks Dan Hickling Cody Hodgson is Buffalo's lone unsigned RFA. Corey Tropp may or may not be a Buffalo Sabre this season. Thats not up to the team, its up to the Sabres. Tropp's RFA as well. In the past ten days, Darcy Regier has signed four of his six RFAs in Matt Hackett, Luke Adam, Brian Flynn, and Nick Crawford. The four contracts were one and done negotiations. The team...

Hurricanes sign Nathan Gerbe

The Hurricanes continue to make small moves this summer by signing forward Nathan Gerbe to a one-year deal, two-way deal. Gerbe will be paid $550,000 in the NHL and $125,000 in the AHL and have $250,000 in guaranteed money. Gerbe has spent his entire career with the Buffalo Sabres, scoring 29 goals & 72 points over 188 and spending the last three full seasons in the NHL. He will...

GARTH: Matt Can Hackett

Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth will be the two goaltenders in Buffalo this season. Its likely that Miller will start the season with the Sabres, and Enroth will be his back-up. If/when Miller is dealt away (likely at the trade deadline in February), Enroth will become the starter. His back-up will be (insert young goalie name here). The Rochester Americans need a starting goaltender...

Kevin Freiheit: Goaltending, captaincy dilemmas

Just wanted to discuss a couple of key issues the Sabres are going to have over the next few years. What is this goalie situation going to look like in Buffalo? The Sabres have always had good goaltenders in the past, and they still do now. Whether Ryan Miller ends up getting traded, the Sabres are going to have a dilemma between the pipes. Right now, Miller is obviously the...
