Colton Orr Fights Patrick Kaleta, Bags 29 Penalty Minutes In Just Two Seconds of Ice Time (Video)

Hockey fights are very common, but what is not are the significant events that took place in Buffalo on Thursday night. Colton Orr, who has a total of 1,026 penalty minutes in his 11-year career, recorded 29 minutes in just two seconds of playing time on Thursday. The Maple Leafs’ right winger not only served two minutes for cross-checking Buffalo’s Patrick Kaleta, but he also...

Fan-made Buffalo Sabres fire sale video is classic (Video)

As the NHL trade deadline looms for this lockout-shortened season, one Buffalo Sabres fan fed up with his favorite team's performance this year decided to make a YouTube clip to show off his frustration. The video parodies those "fire sale" videos for commercial businesses getting closed down and kudos to the creators for this one: (Courtesy of It's Always...

Toronto vs. Buffalo: Hockey on Undercard to Fight

Nothing like a good hockey game in between a fight. That's basically what happened Thursday night when the Buffalo Sabres got a hard-fought 5-4  Shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. And we say hard fought, we mean HARD fought. The highlight of the evening to many: A Fight/Dance featuring a fight between Buffalo's John Scott and Toronto's Frazer McLaren...

Toronto Maple Leafs’ Slide in Standings May Be Due to Lack of Toughness on Defense (Video)

What’s wrong with the Toronto Maple Leafs? Since jumping out to a hot start this season, the Leafs have fallen back to the pack and currently sit sixth in the Eastern Conference — just three points ahead of the ninth-place New York Rangers. But what’s to blame? The Instigators all seem to agree that the goaltending has been solid, but Dale Arnold thinks the team is missing...

Toronto snaps 5-game skid in win over Tampa

TORONTO (AP) -- Nazem Kadri had three assists and Joffrey Lupul added a goal and an assist as the Toronto Maple Leafs snapped a five-game winless skid with a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night. Dion Phaneuf, Tyler Bozak and Nikolai Kulemin also scored for Toronto. Kadri's three points tied a career high, and he had a chance at a fourth point but was...

Looing East At The Trade Deadline

from Dan Rosen of NHL.com, Buffalo Sabres: It's hard to nail down exactly what players GM Darcy Regier would be willing to deal before the deadline, but chances are he'll listen on just about anybody. If teams are looking for defensemen, they can inquire about Robyn Regehr and Jordan Leopold -- both have expiring contracts. Regier recently floated the possibility that...

“Put Yourself in My Shoes: The Buffalo Sabres”

The Sabres’ season has been nothing short of a disaster, but how will GM Darcy Regier address the defensive problems in this years Draft? For the Buffalo Sabres, this season has been nothing short of a disaster! First, they trade star center Derek Roy to Dallas for gritty winger Steve Ott and defenceman Adam Pardy, then after a dismal start, they fire head coach Lindy Ruff who...

The Good, The Bad and The Return of Jake Gardiner

I apologize for my absence recently, I was on vacation in Florida and was unable to watch the games. But let’s talk about this game instead. The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight by a score of 4-2 in Jake Gardiner’s first game since being recalled (finally) from the AHL yesterday. In the [...]

Joffrey Lupul's dirty hit to the head on Victor Hedman

This is an illegal hit to the head and a violation of rule 48. Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffery Lupul is going to get a call from the Department of Player Safety and if he isn't suspended, I will be very surprised. Apparently, this isn't the first time that Victory Hedman has been hit with a questionable and dirty hit this week. Zac Rinaldo also caught Hedman with a very...

Optimism and Fire Sales

On Wednesday afternoon I opened my mailbox to find a familiar sight, one that I've come to expect every spring for the last six years.  But never has it left me more incredulous. "An invoice for Sabres playoff tickets?  What kind of sick joke is this?" My favorite part was this excerpt from the letter that accompanied the invoice: “With the NHL Playoffs...

Maple Leafs 3, Bruins 2

Nazem Kadri scored in the first period, and Frazer McLaren added a timely goal in the third as the Toronto Maple Leafs ended an eight-game losing streak to the Bruins with a 3-2 victory on Saturday night. The Bruins tried to rally from a 3-0 hole in the third period, throwing everything they had at Toronto in the final minutes. The teams will meet again on Monday in Boston. Dennis...
