Found February 07, 2013 on Running With The Devils:
Tampa Bay Lightning (6-3-0) @ New Jersey Devils (5-1-3) This is the first meeting between the two teams this season.  The Devils took 3 of the 4 meetings between the two teams last season. The big news of the day is that Zubrus will be a scratch tonight, dealing with what’s being called an “Upper Body” injury and Stephan Matteau will suit up for his 6th game meaning that his entry-level contract will now kick in. It has been widely publicized that this is no way guaranteeing that he will stick around just that we are now using year 1 for him. The Devils Last Game – Beat the Rangers 3-1 thanks to Marty and Clarkson. The Last Lighning Game – Lost in Philly and in my opinion Vinny L made a HUGE mistake getting into a fight down a goal with only 8 mins remaining. The Lightning are paying him to be on the ice, not in the box. Tonight’s Game – This game will tell us a lot about the Lightning. They are on their first losing streak of the season and a win tonight co...

Video: B.J. Crombeen-Zac Rinaldo Brutal Hockey Fight

“Tuesday Night Fights” might not be around any more, but apparently no one told Tampa Bay’s B.J. Crombeen or Philadelphia’s Zac Rinaldo. During the Flyers’ 2-1 win over the Lightning Tuesday night, Crombeen and Rinaldo – two known tough guys – engaged in a most brutal display of fisticuffs. Rinaldo scored the knockout – almost literally – by pummeling Crombeen with...

Questionable calls in New Jersey-Tampa Bay game results in Guy Boucher’s hilarious actions

There were some questionable calls against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night during their game against the New Jersey Devils, and their Head Coach Guy Boucher was not happy. His reaction behind the bench is hysterical, but eventually referee Don Van Massenhoven had enough and gave the Lightning coach an unsportsmanlike conduct.  This gave the Devils an extended 5-on-3 powerplay...

Michael Stuart: Missed Chances and Questionable Officiating Cost the Lightning

Another day, another road game, another missed opportunity, another Lightning loss. To start the 2013 National Hockey League season, that’s been the story for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Earlier tonight, against the New Jersey Devils, the Lightning put forth an effort that simply isn’t going to win hockey games at the NHL level. The forwards’ timing was off, the defense’s...

Anders Lindback’s diving glove save robs Travis Zajac

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Anders Lindback made this miraculous save on Travis Zajac on Thursday night.  This is one of those instances where it’s very helpful to be 6’6″ and extremely athletic.  Lindback finished the game with 23 saves as the New Jersey Devils beat the Lightning 4-2.[YouTube]

Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils Acquire Andrei Loktionov From LA Kings

The New Jersey Devils have announced that they have acquired center Andrei Loktionov from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for their 5th round pick in 2013. Loktionov, 22, had 22 points in 37 games with the Kings AHL affiliate, Manchester, this season. The Devils have announced Loktionov will be assigned to Albany for the time being. Loktionov is loaded with skill and has...
