TEAMS: Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota Wild, New Jersey Devils
Let’s start with the pre-game coverage because it bothered me. Before we even get to the broadcast, NBC cuts to an interview between Salvador and Brian Engblom and all he’s interest is the team’s mindset now that Parise is in Minnesota. In fact, according to Engblom, the Devils have remained intact from last season except for the departure of Zach Parise. No mention of Sykora and Ponikarovsy who were both very important to this team one season ago. What a terrible interview on the part of NBC. After a brief studio segment, we make it to the start of the Devils and Flyers. I’ve sat through a bunch of NBC broadcasts so far this season, all of which were home openers and this Devils game has been the ONLY one where NBC didn’t broadcast the player introductions. BIG TIME FAIL on the part of NBC but why should I be surprised?
Now, to the game and just like that, the Devils find the back of the net. Bryce Salvador did everything he was supposed to and put the puck on net fr...

Devils win behind Brodeur's 120th career shutout
NEWARK, N.J. -- It was the 658th time in his sure-fire Hall of Fame and storied career that Martin Brodeur sat at his locker after a victory. It was also the 120th time that Brodeur posted a shutout, extending both NHL records. But they're just numbers now for the 40-year-old Brodeur, who was victorious once again Tuesday night, helping the New Jersey Devils to a 3-0 shutout...
Wild will travel more than any NHL team
ST. PAUL, Minn. Zach Parise might want to invest in a good travel pillow after signing his big contract with the Minnesota Wild.
Parise, who grew up in the Twin Cities, was well aware of what he was in for when he agreed to a 13-year contract last summer. He didn't need much of a tour of his new surroundings and was well aware of the brutal winters. There is one big adjustment...
Who Needs Parise?
from Ken Campbell of The Hockey News,
Contrary to popular belief, the New Jersey Devils are not a bunch of automatons. Too much personality. But you’d be excused for thinking that GM Lou Lamoriello spends his time in some elaborate control room in the Prudential Center meticulously guiding all the movements of his players.
How else do you explain this franchise? In what...
Parise lifts Wild over Stars
Zach Parise scored his first goal with the Wild and Josh Harding stopped all 24 shots he faced in his first start since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and Minnesota beat the Dallas Stars 1-0 on Sunday.
Parise notched his third point with the Wild a night after getting two assists in Minnesota's season-opening win against Colorado.
Parise's first goal of the season...
What Purpose Does Cam Janssen Have On Our Team?
After knocking off the Flyers 3-0 last night at The Rock, the over-all feeling about this team was a good feeling. I thought they put in a great effort, did some good things and stuck up for one another. That isn’t to say that there are things to work on because there are ALWAYS things that need a little work. Then I started thinking about Cam Janssen and I am just confused...
Devils blank Flyers in home opener
Martin Brodeur made 24 saves for his 120th NHL shutout, Ilya Kovalchuk scored on a short-handed penalty shot, and the New Jersey Devils won their home opener in front of an enthusiastic sellout crowd with a 3-0 victory over the winless Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.
Travis Zajac and David Clarkson scored first-period goals for the defending Eastern Conference champions, 2...
Brayden Schenn Suspended One Game for Hit on Anton Volchenkov (Video)
Brendan Shanahan has spoken for the first time this season, and that’s not good news for Brayden Schenn and the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers forward was suspended one game Wednesday for his hit on New Jersey’s Anton Volchenkov in the Devils’ 3-0 win over the winless Flyers on Tuesday night.
Shanahan explained that the supplemental discipline comes from the fact that Schenn...
New Jersey Devils Getting Tested Early in Shortened Season
By Mike Luciano (@MikeLuci)
The New Jersey Devils squeaked out a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders to open up the shortened 2012-2013 NHL season. While the victory is encouraging, concerns surrounding the team’s offensive depth and if the Devils will be able to produce offensively this season were conjured up as the Devils only managed to score twice on 28 shots.
The Devil’s...
Game 2 Preview: Devils Raise A Banner
Philadelphia Flyers (0-2-0) @ New Jersey Devils (1-0-0)
The Devils return home tonight for the first time this season. There will be a new banner in the ceiling (although it’s not the banner 99.999% of us REALLY wanted but it did come at the expense of the Rangers so if you are bummed it’s not a Stanley Cup banner, at least find comfort in knowing that it isn’t...
Todd Cordell: Brodeur, Devils Shutout Flyers 3-0 In Home Opener
The New Jersey Devils played in their home opener Tuesday night and didn't disappoint as they shutout the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0.
Here are some notes the game.
- That was a big win for the Devils. They didn't seem to have their legs under them for almost the entire first period, yet they had a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. New Jersey started to find their game...

Travis Zajac, David Clarkson and Ilya Kovalchuk (on a penalty shot) scored goals for the Devils, who improved to 2-0...
Going Cup Wild In Minnesota
from Brian Cazeneuve of Sports Illustrated,
Sure, hockey-crazed Minnesota has yearned for a successful team in the NHL, but a winning Wild would also be just as good for the league as it tries to recover from the long lockout that bruised its image. While Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles have won the last three Stanley Cup titles, Minnesota is hockey's answer to Green Bay...

Suter looks to knock off former team
Led by star newcomers Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, the Minnesota Wild are looking to complete a perfect season-opening homestand and continue their best start in four years.
To do so, they'll have to knock off Suter's former team, the Nashville Predators, who begin their road schedule Tuesday night trying to shake off back-to-back shootout losses.
Minnesota (2-0-0) is enjoying...
