Found March 10, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
Yesterdays tilt with the BJ's was a gawd-awful mess.  Really, how does a man get abused by BJ's?  Uncle Mike obviously doesn't know either, as this is the second occurance of the sky falling:   “I thought we were bad,'' Babcock said. “Why was that? Was that mental prep? Was that the coach never got any messages across? Lack of preparation? Did we practice too long yesterday? I don't know any of the answers to those things. But, the bottom line is we weren't mentally prepared to play hard enough and long enough to have success.'' Yea Mike, I thought your team was bad too, embarassingly so (I blame Jacskon Browne). And let's beat a dead horse some more; 0-36 road PP (and 0-13 overall in past 6 tilts).  Hell's bells, you can pot at least one by accident. For whatever reason, the Wings are a totally different team playing on the Mean Streets of DET.   The BJ's own the worst road-record in the league.  Time for a little pay-back, eh? ...

Wings' weekend swept by Blue Jackets

DETROIT -- If the Detroit Red Wings miss the playoffs for the first time in 22 seasons, they'll likely have their neighbors to the south to blame. The Columbus Blue Jackets, who came into Sunday's game 14th in the Western Conference with 22 points, beat the Wings for the second straight night, 3-2 in a shootout. For those scoring at home, the Wings went 1-3-1 against the...

Jackets send D Cody Goloubef to AHL team

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned defenseman Cody Goloubef to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass. The 23-year-old Goloubef has appeared in nine games with Columbus this season. He scored his first career NHL goal on Feb. 11 vs. San Jose. The Blue Jackets' second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 draft, Goloubef came to the...

The Blue Jackets Could be Heavy Sellers

With the removal of Scott Howson as the Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager (GM) and the hiring of drafting and development guru Jarmo Kekalainen to replace Howson, the philosophy of patience could have been replaced with one of a major upheaval, albeit one with Kekalainen’s stamp of youth and playing the game at a high rate of speed, both physically and mentally. One seismic...

Red Wings vs Blue Jacket Recap: 3.9.2013

Red Wings didn't give much effort today and fell to the Blue Jacket 3-0. This is the first time in the history of ever that Columbus won a season series against the Wings and they deserved it. We're missing a bunch of guys that probably shouldn't be on the team anyways (minus Helm, of course) and they're missing a few of their best players but still destroyed us....

Brendan Smith Fights Derek McKenzie: Video

Earlier this season, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Derek McKenzie sidelined Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith for 11 games with a hard hit that injured Smith’s shoulder. Sunday, Smith got a bit of payback. After the two again came together in Detroit’s zone during a 3-2 Columbus shootout win, Smith and McKenzie then dropped the gloves with about 15 minutes left in the...

Cloudy forecast at halfway point for Wings

DETROIT -- In a lockout-shortened season, things can change quickly for every team, including the Detroit Red Wings. Now that they've passed the midway point of the season -- 26 games into a compressed, 48-game schedule -- let's take a look at where they stand before they head out on the road. Things were looking pretty good before this past weekend. The Wings were in a...

What Would You Pay Jimmy Howard?

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal notes... The Detroit Red Wings will have to buck up for Jimmy Howard this summer when he’s an unrestricted free agent. Is he worth Kari Lehtonen’s $5.9 million, which starts next season? That’s an overpay by the Dallas Stars. But I’d say Howard should go from $2.25 million to $5 million. They don’t have a backup. He’s their guy...

GDT - Game 25: Red Wings (12-8-4) at Blue Jackets (8-12-4) 2:00

Half way there, and DET are sitting in 4th. After the start to this season, who'd a thunk it?  That is the good news anyways.  In the crosstown traffic that is the WC, the Wings are only 4 points from 11th position. The problematic bit is that DET are the road warrior the rest of the month;  8 road games versus just 3 at home.  April is a little better, 7 road, 6 at JLA. ...

Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2, SO

Ryan Johansen and Matt Calvert scored in the shootout and the streaking Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Sunday to complete a home-and-home sweep. Derick Brassard and R.J. Umberger had goals in regulation, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 20 saves through overtime for Columbus, which has won five straight. The Blue Jackets topped the Red Wings 3-0 in Columbus on...

Red Wings-Blue Jackets set-up and overnight report: second half begins; Griffins win ‘Purple Game’

The Detroit Red Wings begin the second half of their 48-games-in-99-nights demolition derby with a pair of games against the Columbus Blue Jackets today (2 PM EST, FSD/FS Ohio/97.1 FM) and tomorrow (5 PM EDT--yeah, spring forward, bleh--FSD/FS Ohio/AM 1270), and the Wings spent Friday's post-practice media availability suggesting that, all things considered, they're happy...

Wings/Blue Jackets Recap

George picked a good day to deal with a computer issue with his new laptop so you have me with this recap. I am going to make like Mike Babcock during his first period timeout and say nothing. That's it, I have nothing to say about this game but on the other hand you may have a lot to talk about, so the floor is yours.
