Matinee tilt as DET (27-15-1) hosts CHI (26-13-5) in an O6, division rivalry. An important two points at stake today, as CHI, DET, and STL are neck-and-neck for the Division lead. The Wings are dominant at home (16-2-1), and are riding a 13 game winning streak. DET’s home win streak is, believe it or not, being won with defense. DET have allowed more than two goals just once (November 23 in a 5-3 win vs. Calgary) during the streak. DET are torching the opponent at even strength, outscoring them 48-11. The Wings haven’t lost at home since Nov. 4, and will try to match the franchise record, set in 1964-65, with a win today.
You would think, the way things are going for DET, that the other skate is sure to drop. You’d probably be right. As good as DET is at home, the ‘Hawks have owned the JLA ice of late. The ‘Hawks have won five consecutive road games against the Wings, while scoring at least three goals in each contest during their win streak.

All of a sudden, the Wings seem like they might not be so bad at this shootout thing. Henrik Zetterberg was the 4th shooter of the night, but he buried his opportunity with an ode to fellow countryman Peter Forsberg with this move.
And here's proof that I know what I'm talking about (complete with crazy Swedish announcer guys).
As the Chief already noted, our friends in Toronto are corroborating the massive Detroit press push suggesting that the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs will hold a Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and if you don’t believe Pension Plan Puppets’ news, the Globe and Mail’s David Shoalts (via RedWingsFeed) is also stating that the deal is done…...
The Ottawa Sun’s Ken Warren suggests that the NHL shouldn’t have allowed Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom and Anaheim Ducks forward Teemu Selanne to have skipped the All-Star game, arguing that both players are guilty of dereliction of duties which both players must fulfill:
Most of the time, Nicklas Lidstrom and Teemu Selanne deserve the utmost respect.
They are two of...

It's good to be back!
After an unfortunate event (laptop meltdown) and a positive life-changing event (birth of my second child), I've been unable to blog thus far in 2012.
For that, I apologize profusely.
