NEW YORK - JANUARY 16: Thomas Vanek #26 of the Buffalo Sabres knocks the puck past Dan Girardi #5 of the New York Rangers on January 16, 2008 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Rangers defeated the Sabres 2-1. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)
After last night's game John Tortorella was asked about Dan Girardi not being on this year's All Star ballot and said this (via Rangers Rants)...

"Oh, this league," said Tortorella, waving his hand in disgust. "It's because he's not pedigree. There's no pedigree there. Our league is so ass-backwards when it comes to that. It's not just this year that he's been underrated. This guy has been a really good player. But if you don't have the pedigree in this league, they don't look at you."

Girardi was named last night's first star after his 1g, +2 performance.

As you know in an effort to right this injustice, TheNYRBlog has started an All Star write-in campaign for Girardi which will begin when voting opens on Monday. All the big Rangers fan blogs are jumping on board so I'm really excited.

A Facebook page has also been created for the write-in campaign and I ask everyone to "Like" it by clicking here.

...nice to see Torts firing everyone up about Girardi not being on the ballot. I have a great feeling we're going to get it done this season.
