The Anaheim Ducks will not re-sign Jonas Hiller, Saku Koivu, and Daniel Winnik, general manager Bob Murray confirmed Thursday. The Swiss-born Hiller, 32, has spent the entirety of his seven-year NHL career with the Ducks, posting 162 wins in 326 games. Coach Bruce Boudreau replaced the goaltender with Frederik Andersen after the Ducks lost their first two games in the second-round playoff run against the Kings. Hiller returned after Andersen was injured midway through Game 3's third period. But in a surprise move, Boudreau opted for 20-year-old John Gibson in Game 4 and started the rookie the rest of the series. Murray called the choice not to re-sign Koivu the toughest of the trio. Koivu, 39, has played for the Ducks five seasons. He recorded 11 goals and 18 assists in the 2013-14 regular season and one assist in 13 playoff games. The four-time Olympian for the Finnish national team was the longtime captain of the Montreal Canadiens prior to moving to Anaheim, where he played alongside fellow countrymate Teemu Selanne, now retired. Winnik, 29, is coming off his second year with the club, having posted a career-high 30 points in Anaheim this season. The Ducks were ousted by eventual Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles in the second round of the playoffs after holding a 3-2 series lead. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
