MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota men's hockey squad won its lone exhibition contest of the 2013-14 campaign Saturday, topping Lethbridge by a 5-1 margin. In a physical contest, the Gophers got two points apiece from Hudson Fasching, Travis Boyd and Ben Marshall. Minnesota netminder Adam Wilcox stopped all four Lethbridge shots he faced before being replaced by Mike Shibrowski to begin the second period. Lethbridge, a university from the Canadian province of Alberta, pulled even midway through the second stanza, but Minnesota largely controlled play from there on out. Two players from each team -- Marshall and Connor Reilly from Minnesota and Cason Machacek and Hayden Rintoul from Lethbridge -- were assessed game misconducts in the final five minutes of the frame. The Gophers return to action next Friday, when they host the Ice Breaker Tournament, which includes Clarkson, New Hampshire and Mercyhurst.
