Grabovski cleared: Capitals center Mikhail Grabovski’s visa issues have been resolved allowing the 29-year-old forward to leave Toronto and participate in his first training camp with the Caps.
Signed to a one-year $3 million contract on Aug. 23 Grabovski is expected to practice with the team on Sunday. His first game with the Caps could come in the preseason home opener at VerizonCenter on Thursday night.
“I feel for him because obviously he wants to be here and not get off on the wrong foot” Oates said. “A lot of people don’t understand walking into a new locker room is a tough thing. You kind of want to settle in and have as much time as possible.”
Oates plans on using Grabovski between right wing Troy Brouwer and either Brooks Laich or Martin Erat this season.
