After missing four games with a shoulder injury, Henrik Tallinder returned to the lineup Monday night for the Buffalo Sabres.
The veteran defensemen spent the last three seasons in New Jersey before returning to Buffalo via trade this summer. Tallinder had spent the first eight years of his career with the Sabres.
So far this season, Tallinder’s impact on the Sabres has not come in anything that can be quickly measured with a statistic. In his three games, all the 34-year old has to show for his efforts, is three shots on goal and four penalty minutes. But more importantly for Buffalo, Tallinder has averaged about 16 minutes per game and is a steadying influence on the blue line for his young teammates. This is especially true for 23-year old Tyler Myers who has not gotten off to a good start this season. In an effort to remedy that, Tallinder was paired with Myers upon his return Monday night.
To make room for Tallinder, Alexander Sulzer was send back to the minors.
