(Getty Images) Brian Elliott seems to have found a place in St. Louis after being with the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche were he was an average goaltender. When he arrived in St. Louis, it all seemed to turn around for him and he started to really take hold of the crease playing well.   Elliott has a chance of becoming the starting goaltender for the St. Louis Blues this season. Sharing the net with Jaroslav Halak, it can get quite competitive in a joust for the crease every night. Head coach Ken Hitchcock has to make that decision before every game, which has to be very stressful.  Coming in relief against the Nashville Predators Monday night to Jaro Halak allowed Elliott to show what he is made of. Elliott was able to stand strong in his crease in the shootout allowing his Blues team to get the win they wanted on the road, shutting out the Predators in the second half of the game. As a strong, consistent goaltender as of late, he is becoming Vezina worthy. Elliott plays his best when he plays conservatively being deep in his net not taking any risks coming out too far or overplaying the puck. The Ontario native is just the goalie a coach wants in making a run for the playoffs with a great team in front of him like the Blues this season. However, in all this praise, Elliott does have a weakness. That is his quickness. As stated earlier, Elliott plays a conservative game, not making any wild or crazy saves. One word someone should not label Brian Elliott is "quick". Here is how to beat Brian Elliott. Shooting 13 inches high: A NHL regulation leg pad is 11 inches. Elliott usually has his blocker and glove placement a bit higher than others. If a player shoots 12-13 inches high quickly, it will be too late for Elliott to lower his glove and the puck will be past him.   5-Hole: A good slap-shot 5-hole on Elliott will get past him.   Brian Elliott's career stats vs Nashville   Name W L OT SO GAA SV % #1 Brian Elliott 3 1 0 1 1.14 .959
