When you’re the head coach of an NHL team that has made the playoffs only once in the last eight seasons, you have to be looking over your shoulder – mostly for pink slips.
That’s where Carolina Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller finds himself at the end of yet another unsuccessful campaign.
According to a story by SI.com columnist Larry Brooks, Muller may be at the end of his tenure with the Canes.
It is, according to sources, a fait accompli in Carolina that Kirk Muller will be dismissed a head coach at the conclusion of the season by incoming GM Ron Francis.
This can’t come as any big shock to anyone who has followed the Hurricanes this season, with the team currently perched only six points away from the bottom of the Metropolitan Division, and on the brink of mathematical elimination from the playoffs once again.
