I have come across some stuff on Twitter and the Philadelphia Flyers Facebook page after last night’s game blaming the loss on netminder Ilya Bryzgalov.  People are pointing out his performance in the shootout last night which the New York Islanders took 2-0 to win the game 1-0. Bryz earned his 25th career shutout and is the third player to reach that milestone in a Flyers uni, the other two are Martin Biron and the legendary Bernie Parent.  Even though I have been one of Bryz’s most vocal critics, there is no way I can blame him for the loss. The reason the Flyers lost last night is because of Evgeni Nabokov.  He was simply stellar in net and is the sole reason the Islanders won.  The Flyers  had plenty of chances of last night 86 in all 45 shots on goal, 24 shots were blocked, and 17 missed the net.  ”We didn’t score tonight. It wasn’t from the lack of trying, it didn’t go in the net,” said Flyers coach Peter Laviolette.  ”It is one ...

Chris Pronger Visited The Team At Practice

It's such a sad story what is going on with Chris Pronger. He continues to battle post-concussion symptoms. Today, he surprised his Flyer teammates by dropping by practice for 90 minutes. He has not seen most of them since the team Christmas party back in December. Hartnell gave some thoughts on what his teammate and friend is going through. “Not to make him feel bad, but...

Tim Panaccio: Pronger Makes an Appearance

It hasn't been easy writing about Chris Pronger when A) we never see him; B) we never hear from him. Today, Pronger dropped by Skate Zone unexpectedly to see teammates for the first time since the club's Christmas Party. From the players I talked to, the visit was therapeutic for themselves, as well as Pronger. He did not speak to the media. What I found interesting...

Hartnell, Flyers top Maple Leafs to gain important home win

Let me start with this important statement: I hate this time of year. Pro football is over and baseball has not started yet. Also, the Flyers play better with Bob Bobrovsky in goal. Scott Hartnell scored two first-period goals and the teams dragged a 2-2 tie going into the second period. Claude Giroux and Brayden Schenn scored 1:14 apart in the second for a brief two-goal advantage...

PHILADELPHIA -- Claude Giroux and Brayden Schenn scored 1:14 apart in the second period to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. Scott Hartnell and Max Talbot also had goals for Philadelp...

Maple Leafs Take On Flyers In Eastern Conference Showdown

There are a handful of teams that the opposition measures it’s success against, without question the Philadelphia Flyers are one of those teams. As good as the Toronto Maple Leafs have been over their past ten games (6-3-1), Thursday night’s tilt against the Flyers will be used as a measuring stick for the Buds. Should the Maple Leafs lose, it will reinforce what many pundits...

Fantasy Hockey: Goalies To Add and Start – Halak, Miller, Ward, Hiller, amd Bryzgalov

The NHL is past its halfway point and headed down the stretch towards the playoffs. This is when goalies are relied upon the most and rise to the top of their game in a push for Lord Stanley’s mug. Here is a look at a few goalies who had rough starts, which may have sent them down to the waiver wire in shallower leagues or at least earned them a seat on the bench. These five...

Flyers edge Maple Leafs to snap three-game rut

Claude Giroux and Brayden Schenn scored 1:14 apart in the second period to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.

Flyers Start Strong, Hold on for 4-3 win Over Maple Leafs

Photo by Paul Bereswill/Getty Images The Philadelphia Flyers claimed to be satisfied with their play after Tuesday’s 1-0 shootout loss to the New York Islanders. Following the game, the sentiment was clear: that level of effort will win a lot of games. At the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night, the Flyers proved their point. Again outshooting and outskating their opponent, tonight...
