Found July 13, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
In front of jam-packed stands and a suite overflowing with Red Wings amateur scouts, the Wings' coach, the Grand Rapids Griffins' coach, and Ken Holland, Kris Draper, Ryan Martin and Jiri Fischer, the Wings' prospects finally got to tangle with each other in a game situation. It wasn't exactly three periods' worth of hockey--two 30-minute periods, with a running-down clock for the first "half," and the players taking part in "power play" and "penalty-killing" situations for 4-minute stretches during the first minute of the second half. There was one penalty--a high sticking call against Zach Nastasiuk--which resulted in a penalty shot(!) Xavier Ouellet was unable to convert upon (against Jake Paterson), and Tyler Bertuzzi was rocked by Martin Frk and Ferris State University defenseman Jason Binkley, who, alongside Simon Denis, were brought in to--wait for it--Nick Jensen. Detroit Red Wings Will Match Any Offers to Gustav Nyquist, Joakim Andersson: Report

Neither Gustav Nyquist nor Joakim Andersson, two of the Detroit Red Wings’ restricted free agents this offseason, has re-signed with the team yet. GM Ken Holland says that it’s only a matter of time, though. “If somebody puts in an offer sheet, we’ll match,” Holland told MLive’s Brendan Savage at the Wings’ development camp in Traverse City. Not that any team was on...

Red Wings mid-day news: on Mantha, the Wings’ defense (prospects and current players) and UFA haul

Amongst the Red Wings-related news that popped up this morning: While speaking with Ken Holland regarding the Wings' scouting appointments, MLive's Brendan Savage inquired as to the progress of one Darren Helm, and Holland very politely said the equivalent of, "He's doing okay, but it's only been two days": "Looking at the sixth-month history,...

Brunner Headed To New Jersey?

from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice, The Devils appear to be closing in on signing unrestricted free agent forward Damien Brunner, according to a report out of Switzerland. Nicola Berger of the Swiss newspaper Neue Luzerner Zeitung reported this morning that Brunner “appears to be headed” to the Devils and “they’re doing a lot of background work on him right now.”...

Audio from day 4 of the Red Wings’ development camp (and Darren Helm news)

The Red Wings switched things up BIG TIME today, holding a 50-minute set of skill development drills for Team Yzerman from 8-8:50, a 50-minute set of skill development drills for Team Lidstrom from about 10:20-11:10, and in between, ALL 30-something players who were participating in today's drills took part in a practice ran by Grand Rapids Griffins coach Jeff Blashill. The...

Impressions from Day 2 of the Red Wings’ development camp

Between the Red Wings' naming of Tyler Wright as the team's director of amateur scouting and Jeff Finley as head scout, Jim Nill's departure before he took Joe McDonnell with him, the both truncated and incredibly differently-ran drills which took place during the second day of the Wings' summer development camp and the interviews I've had with both the coaches...

Red Wings morning report: on the long journey

As noted in the early overnight report, Red Wings GM Ken Holland spoke with both Red Wings TV and the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness about the long, long (emphasis on "long") road ahead of even the process that the vast majority of the prospects taking part in the Wings' summer development camp face, and this morning, MLive's Brendan Savage picks up that conversation...

Red Wings early overnight report: on Wright’s hiring and multitudes of development camp coverage

The second day of the Detroit Red Wings' development camp will give way to a scrimmage at 5 PM on Friday (arrive early if you are attending), and that precedes an "off-day" for the players and the sale of training camp tickets on an in-person basis at Centre Ice Arena on Saturday. As such, after the "getting-to-know-you" particulars of day 1, both the morning...

Red Wings early overnight report: ‘off-day’ prospect talk, Wings camp video, Weiss and the WingEast

While I was sleeping in after penning last night's post-scrimmage entry, MLive's Brendan Savage penned updates regarding Joakim Andersson, Gustav Nyquist and the exit of Damien Brunner, and the Red Wings' prospects, who will be taking part in morning practice sessions only on Sunday, spent their only "off-day" playing paintball and touring Camp Grayling: Continue...

MLive’s Savage updates statuses of Nyquist, Andersson and soon-to-be-Devil(?) Brunner

I kind of collapsed last night, so I apologize for the lateness of these updates: MLive's Brendan Savage spoke to Red Wings GM Ken Holland about the statuses of restricted free agents Gustav Nyquist and Joakim Andersson, and Holland told Savage that he hasn't begun negotiations with either player yet (as he told me on Thursday, he's not concerned about Brendan Smith...

Audio from the scrimmage at the Red Wings’ summer development camp

I apologize for the lateness of this post, but I had some social obligations to take care (stop laughing...I have a life...sort of...), and as such, I ended up spending about 90 minutes hanging out with pals spending the night at Centre Ice Arena to snag training camp tickets (they go MLive's Brendan Savage has already penned a recap of an event which was absolutely dominated...

Audio from day 2 of the Red Wings’ development camp, part 2: Wright, Babcock, Holland, Holmstrom

Okay, somewhere in between the morning's session of skill drills at the second day of the Red Wings' development camp, speaking with various the announcement of Tyler Wright's naming as the Red Wings' director of amateur scouting (with Jeff Finley to serve as director of scouting) and wandering back and forth from my laptop to "scrums," I promised myself...

Getting all the names straight regarding the Red Wings’ amateur scouting personnel shuffle

As the Red Wings haven't issued a formal press release regarding the hiring ot Tyler Wright as the team's director of scouting and Jeff Finley's promotion to head scout, it's been a little difficult to keep track of all the names surrounding the Wings' amateur scouting shuffle. The Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline confirmed that Wright and a trusted right...

Putting The ‘D’ In The Big ‘D’

from Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News, The Stars will wear uniforms with a new shade of green this season. But underneath those sweaters the red will run deep. Red Wings red. If you can’t beat ’em, copy ’em. That’s the blueprint the Stars sought when they signed Jim Nill as their general manager. Nill spent 19 seasons in the front office of the...
