For the New York Islanders, a win is a win no matter who the opponent is.
Rob Schremp’s second tally of the game broke a third-period tie and lifted the Isles to a 5-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night in Uniondale
Schremp made it 4-3 at 1:39 of the third with a power-play goal, while Frans Nielsen iced the win with a short-handed, empty-netter with less than :10 remaining. Matt Moulson and Michael Grabner also scored for New York (38-23 advantage in shots), which was coming off of a loss in Pittsburgh last Wednesday night.
Neither the Isles or the Senators have exactly been ringing up goals left and right this season, so eight total goals on the night was a bit out of the norm. New York, which next plays at home Tuesday night against Toronto, and Ottawa rank 28th and 29th in the NHL in goals, ahead of only New Jersey.
Kevin Poulin picked up the win in goal for New York, stopping 20 of 23 shots.
As one can also imagine, neither the Isles or the Senators are likely ...
