Jarome Iginla chose Pittsburgh over Boston a few months ago but that seems like a few years ago now. With the 2013-14 season right around the corner Iginla is not only a Bruin but he also wants to remain with the B’s for a while. Iginla signed a one-year deal with the Eastern Conference champions in July but he’s already hopeful he can hang in Boston past this one year. The team’s website caught up with the future Hall of Famer recently and he said he’d like to be with the Bruins beyond the 2013-14 season. “I’m absolutely very thrilled to come and be a part of the Bruins” Iginla told BostonBruins.com. “The experiences of trying to win a Stanley Cup but it’s also more than that. It’s to try and come and be a part of the team. “I’ve heard great things about the city and hopefully things go really well and we have a great year as a team and I’d like to play there longer than one year.” The precedent has certainly been set. The 36-year-old who just wrapped up a five-year deal worth $7 million annually signed a cap-friendly $1.8 million deal with the Bruins in July. While the deal reportedly has an additional $4.2 million in performance bonuses it’s a team-friendly contract that certainly indicates he’d like to be in Boston.
