I don't need to tell you about Jaromir Jagr. You already know the story, but I want to reiterate some numbers from his time in Pittsburgh. 11 seasons. 806 games. 439 goals. 640 assists. 1,079 points. 5 Art Ross Trophies. 1 Hart Trophy. 2 Lester B. Pearson Awards. 6 NHL First Team All-Star selections. 1 NHL Second Team All-Star Selection. 9 All-Star games. 1 iconic mullet. 2 Stanley Cups. He's a surefire HOF'er and one of the best ever to play the game, let alone play for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He's the type of player whose best moments should be replayed for younger generations, whose jersey should be worn long after he last put it on, whose name and number should be hanging from rafters for years to come. The story took a turn for the worse in the summer of 2001, when Jaromir Jagr was traded to the Washington Capitals. Whether it was Jagr demanding a trade, the team being unable to pay his salary, or most likely a combination of both, Jagr left Pit...

WILMINGTON, Mass. — According to a report from James Murphy of ESPNBoston.com, Boston Bruins defensemen Andrew Ference and Wade Redden, both suffering from lower body injuries, practiced with the team on Tuesday. As Murphy notes, the fact that Ference was skating is indeed a “good sign”, but that does not give him the automatic go for Saturday’s opening game against the...
The Bruins were without the league’s leading playoff scorer Thursday at practice, but it’s apparently nothing to be too concerned about.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The smile spread across Matt Bartkowski‘s face even before the question was finished.
How will it feel to play against his hometown Penguins, the team he rooted for as a youngster?
“I can’t believe how many times I’ve been asked that,” the Bruins rookie defenseman said with a laugh. “It’s going to be awesome.”
Especially if Boston upsets Pittsburgh...
Prohibition ended 80 years ago, but one Pittsburgh bar is bringing it back. Kind of. Pittsburgh bar, Howler’s Coyote Café will ban the sale of Boston beer, Sam Adams starting on Saturday night when the Penguins face off against the Boston Bruins.
This was the “public service announcement from the staff at Howlers” on the bar’s Facebook page:
It seems crazy to prohibit...

The Bruins were expected to have some problems in their defensive zone against the New York Rangers after key injuries on the Boston blue line. That didn’t prove to be the case, but as Dennis Seidenberg and other D-men return to the lineup, the B’s still have their work cut out for them.
The Penguins have one of the most powerful offenses in the NHL, and despite the emergence...

Photo via BostonHerald.comScott LevesqueManaging Editor It's been six carefree days since the Bruins sent the New York Rangers and John Tortorella packing for a long off-season break.
