The NHL has suspended Kings center Jarret Stoll for one game for his hit on Ian White last night. There was no penalty called on the play, and White left the game and did not return. The Sharks played with only five defensemen for 55 minutes. Stoll has a clean track record, and it is the playoffs, so he only got one game.
Really though, one game? It was a hit from behind to the head against the glass. Stoll kept White’s head pinned to the glass after the play, and White left the game. Stoll should have gotten a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct, but nothing was called.
The hockey fan in me thought he should have gotten at least two games. But with the inconsistency of the NHL’s discipline committee, I had a gut feeling that he would only get one game at most. If this was the regular season, Stoll probably would have gotten two games. If there was a penalty called on the play, I’m not sure Stoll would have gotten suspended at all. This seems like a ve...
