After hearing that former Gatineau Olympiques forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau was close to signing his entry-level contract, Le Droit's JF Plante confirmed this afternoon that Pageau had indeed finally signed the deal.

C'est fait maintenant. Jean-Gabriel Pageau a maintenant un contrat de trois ans en poche avec les #sénateurs

With Pageau under wraps, it's worth reminding readers that Pierre Dorion mentioned in a mid-May interview on the Team 1200 that both Pageau and Shane Prince are expected to play next season in Binghamton. Speaking of Prince, focus will inevitably now be given to when the Ottawa 67s, another member of that vaunted 2011 Senators draft class, will sign an ELC of his own. Hopefully it's soon.

Other News of Pithy Importance:

- After yesterday's announcement on Filip Kuba's future, or lack thereof, with the Ottawa Senators, Don Brennan announced on Off the Posts that Chris Phillips could easily replace Kuba's contributions with Erik Karlsson. I'm not sure whether this is reflective of how little Don thinks of Kuba or whether he's just ignoring how Phillips has thrived since being moved to the third pairing and playing sheltered minutes away from the opposition's best players.

- According to the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch, negotiations between the Senators and Erik Karlsson will begin sometime next week.

- The latest episode of The 6th Sens Podcast will be up tonight, so keep your eye out for that.
