Free-agent forward Alexei Ponikarovsky agreed to a one-year, $1.8 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. Ponikarovsky, 32, had seven goals and eight assists in 49 games for Carolina last season before being traded to the New Jersey Devils, where he had seven goals and 11 assists in 33 games. He also had a goal and eight assists in 24 games for New Jersey in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It Will Be A Sad Day For New Jersey If Brodeur Leaves

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post, There will be no sad songs sung for Martin Brodeur if ownership’s perilous state makes it necessary for the franchise goaltender to leave his franchise behind. He will make millions elsewhere, everyone understands that. Still, if the 40-year-old career Devil does leave New Jersey, then Jeff Vanderbeek and his obviously underfinanced ownership...

New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise and Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter are the top names appearing to be ready to listen to offers, but a new player has jumped into the mix after New...

"The Devils are right in there with him," the goalies said. "He's really weighing his options. Hopefully he'll make the right decision. By no means is he thinking about not coming...

Parise And Sutter Are Holding Up The Free Agency

The second day of the NHL's free agency is coming to a close and the big fish are still on the market. Both Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, this year's biggest names, have yet to sign new contracts, but have narrowed their possibilities. This prolonged wait is frustrating many, and Parise and Sutter are not making any indications as to making a decision soon.Earlier today Parise...

Todd Cordell: Zach Parise Announces He's Not Ready to Decide, Needs More Time

Zach Parise has had us all waiting and he will continue to make us do so, at least for another day. Parise told reporters outside of Newport Sports Agency in Mississauga, where he and his agent, Wade Arnott, have been huddled up for the last two days, that he has not come to a conclusion as to where he wants to play and he needs more time. He would not tell reporters which teams...

Free Agent "Frenzy" Day 2

Twitter was about to explode around 4:30 on Monday afternoon with the imminent news of a statement by Zach Parise in several minutes. Parise waited until roughly 5:00 PM eastern time to announce that, there would essentially be no announcement, as noted by TSN's Mark Masters. Masters went on to report that Parise did not free pressure to make a choice and that he is still deciding...

Martin Brodeur re-signs with New Jersey Devils for two more seasons

Breathe easy, Devils and hockey fans. All is right with the world this Monday morning, as we awoke to the news that Martin Brodeur will remain a New Jersey Devil. Brodeur, who tested free agency for all of a day, managed to use that as a bit of a negotiating point with the Devils. Two years at $4.5 million per is a bit of a pay decrease for the 40 year old netminder, but pay and...

Parise and Suter are still undecided

Zach Parise needed more than 24 hours to choose which hockey team to make happy. ''I'm getting closer but haven't made a decision,'' Parise told reporters Monday in Mississauga, Ontario, according to the Canadian Press. ''I haven't set any deadlines.'' New Jersey is hoping to keep Parise, who became a free agent Sunday when he didn'...

Free Agent Frenzy: Plenty of Value Aside From Parise

Two days of free agent frenzy have now passed with the two biggest fish in the pond – Zach Parise and Ryan Suter – remaining uncaught. All 30 NHL teams would prefer that Parise and Suter decide sooner rather than later, so that they can concentrate on Plan B options (and C and D, if needed). Since all the dominoes haven’t fallen, these fantasy projections should be considered...

Zach Parise Still Undecided

via David Shoalts tweet, Parise says he will return home tomorrow and discuss things with his family. Would not say which teams in contention but Devils still in mix

By the end of...

Zach Parise, Ryan Suter in No Rush As NHL Free Agency Gets Off to Underwhelming Start

In less than six hours after the opening of the free agency period on Sunday, 50 players around the NHL had landed new deals. Yet the first day of free agency still couldn't shake the feeling of being colossally underwhelming. There was activity, sure, but none of the marquee names are on the move, yet. That may be largely because there aren't many marquee names on the market...

Enjoy Your Stress-Free Sunday

Here. Start with this…. @TSNBobMcKenzie NJD GM Lou Lamoriello was in TOR last night to meet with Zach Parise, who will decide within the hour if he is going to UFA at noon ET. More in a minute, but nothing earth shattering.  So, don’t get all excited.
