The Detroit Red Wings fell out of the playoff picture on Wednesday night, thanks to a loss to the Calgary Flames. Both goals the Wings allowed in a decisive third period were of the embarrassing variety, too. The Flames took a 2-1 lead early in the third when Jonathan Ericsson and Jimmy Howard misplayed a puck behind the net, allowing Calgary’s Steve Begin to poke one home off Howard’s leg. Then later, with Detroit on the power play and trying to tie the game, the Wings were caught making a line change and Begin capitalized again. Here’s the goal that stood as the game-winner … a meltdown of epic proportions by Detroit:
