I'm chasing down the validity of a rumor this morning involving the Hawks and the Montreal Canadiens, first reported yesterday by Eklund.
Independently, I have heard of discussions between the two teams going back a number of weeks, and specifically involving Patrick Kane. I would classify these as more vague rumors, coming from sources I don't know that well.

Gauthier had been in the Montreal Canadiens front office since 2003 and was promoted to general manager in 2010. He was recently fired on March 29th, 2012 after seeing the Canadiens fall to the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 29-34-14 record.
