Sabres enforcer John Scott is going to get a call from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his vicious head shot on Bruins forward Loui Eriksson during the third period of Wednesday night’s game in Buffalo. After Eriksson passed the puck up ice to a teammate, Scott skated toward him from the side and delivered a hard hit with the head being the principal point of contact. It’s an illegal hit that will likely result in Scott receiving a suspension of five or more from the NHL. Although, under the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement, Scott is not considered a repeat offender because he hasn’t been suspended in the last 18 months. Scott was ejected from the game and received two five-minute major penalties, one for charging and another for fighting. The Bruins were given a five-minute power play, and Torey Krug scored on the man advantage with a beautiful shot that beat Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller to give Boston a 5-2 lead. Sabres Hack John Scott Pounds Bruins Forward Loui Eriksson in the Head

Last night, Buffalo Sabres pylon, hack, one-dimensional forward, John Scott hit Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson in the head with one of the dirtiest hits I have seen this season. It doesn't appear that the players are learning anything. Scott's teammate Patrick Kaleta is already serving a 10-game suspension for his dirty hit on Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson...

GARTH'S CORNER: Scott Reaction

Quick Hit Preview: Boston Bruins take on San Jose Sharks

The Boston Bruins take on the San Jose Sharks Thursday night in the first of two games between the teams and San Jose’s lone visit to TD Garden. The Bruins (6-2) will be taking on a Sharks team that’s shown no shortage of offense through nine games, leading the league with a ridiculous 40 goals (six more than runner up Toronto) en route to the league’s best record (8-0-1)....

John Scott's a ******* Joke

There's no point to John Scott. Seriously. The guy has five career points in 180 games and never finishing with a positive plus/minus rating. Dude hasn't scored a goal since '09-'10 season.  And for the people ready to talk about fighters, there's a huge difference between enforcer and a goon, and John Scott is captain of the latter.  Guy can barely...

Random tweeters try and defend John Scott

Lost in the hubbub of the the World Series last night was the Boston Bruins playing in Buffalo against a terrible hockey team. Everything was going swimmingly for most of the game. The Bruins were scoring goals, they were having a good time, people were laughing at the misfortune of Buffalo. Oh Buffalo. Without you, we would not have most of our hockey humor and the world would be...

Jack Edwards' Twitter rants are as crazy as his announcing

With the NHL season well underway we're way overdue in checking in on one of our favorite local announcers - Boston Bruins play by play man Jack Edwards.  Let's spin the Jack Edwards Wheel of Insanity and see where we land... [Price is Right Wheel Noise] Crazed Twitter rant it is!  We just narrowly missed out on another Sirhan Sirhan reference. Jacko had to...

Drop Passes

By: Rich Miller (@pensbender) This is pretty straight forward, right?  John Scott is a statue on skates and is basically as one-dimensional as they come in today’s NHL.  In 187 career games, he’s tallied five points.  Five.  It’s counterproductive, yet punch throwers and cheap-shot artists like Scott continue to take roster spots away from guys who can actually play hockey...

Bruins-Sharks Live: B’s Return Home, Finish Back-to-Back by Hosting Sharks at TD Garden

2 p.m.: The Bruins just got done as good of a three-game road trip as you can have. The B’s outscored their opponents 13-4 in wins over Florida, Tampa Bay and Buffalo. But none of those teams tested the Bruins like they’ll be tested Thursday night at TD Garden. The club returns home to find the San Jose Sharks waiting for them. Not only do the Bruins have to complete the second...
