GLENDALE, AZ - SEPTEMBER 26: Joe Thornton #19 of the San Jose Sharks warms up before the preseason NHL game against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena on September 26, 2009 in Glendale, Arizona. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)
It’s not often that you see two superstars pair off to go at it with each other, but that’s exactly what happened on Friday night when the Chicago Blackhawks took on the San Jose Sharks.  Sharks captain Joe Thornton has 26 fights under his belt now, and this gives Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews three total fights for his career.  Toews was incensed the entire shift and was trying to get Thornton to fight, even taking a boarding penalty prior to the fight trying to get his attention.  Unfortunately for Toews, this one backfired as it wasn’t much of a fight, and Thornton got the win.
